When I stop and think about this day in history it makes me sick to my stomach. Incredible things could have been done if the political coup from the Supreme Court of all places hadn't taken place. The Elite and the Corporatist tentacles reach long and far in this country, and just for instance one example not to mention the two wars and 911, but how about a Gore Presidency actually jump starting the effort to fix climate change! 12 years has been a long time to screw things up real bad, sorry for the rant but I am an Empathetic and I weep for my country!

This was the most pissed off, despondent, disillusioned, depressed and frightened that something political had ever made me feel. Then it was all downhill after that.

Being undermined at every turn (with echoes of having been repeatedly undermined in the past), the toughest thing for many many people nowadays is keeping the hope and believing that their efforts count for something.
Each one of us can work, motivate and inspire, if we can draw out and derive the same passion we had before the 2008 election.
The thing is not to give up, or allow anyone you know to give up! If we start local, it can become global. - 6 months ago

We had our wars with Clinton/Gore and don't forget about the Oklahoma city bombing. Gore had 8 years to do something about global warming and didn't do Jack sheet. Gore would be working for the elites and corportists just like bush and obama.

And this would probably have made another man give up completely and Mr. Gore could have done so as well but he didn't. The last 11 years have not been good for the U.S. but it is because of his perseverence and passion regarding our environment/climate change that the world as a whole is more aware of the present danger we now face. He has done more on this crisis than any president ever has from DC and he has been an inspiration to me and so many others.

Absolutely right on, kennymotown! People in the 60's and 70's did all they could to make sure their voices were heard. We need far more organized protests! I still feel the outrage of Dec. 12th. Great post; troubling but important reminder.

Is everyone paying attention to your local election methods? Try your best to make sure they're legitimate.

I almost puked watching this. Our country hasn't been the same ever since. We should've had a Occupy movement then, already! Occupy DC, Florida, and the Supreme Court. Demand, demand, demand....like we do now.

I don't think we will recover.
It has nothing to do with bush or gore. But the people of this country allowed the republic to be pissed on.
This has continued with draconian legislation.I remember just wishing al gore would go away. Not because I didn't like him, but because of my shame. I didn't want to think about what happened to the republic.

Before your comment is removed for name calling, I thought I might bring the facts that 5 members of the Supreme court 2 of which had strong ties to Bush Campaign where the ones who made that decision. I'm so tired of pointing out facts to people like you. Go call someone else an idiot!

Yes and bring in Colin Powell to explain his statement "This is bullshit!" when given the data to present in making the case for war. Truer words were never spoken regarding Iraq.

It's pretty simple really. The intel appearatus from most western countries believed Saddam was attempting to reconstitute his WMD programs and had that he had stockpiles of WMD's. We all believed this because Saddam wanted us to believe it. He feared an invasion by Iran, and believed they wouldn't attack if they thought he had nerve agent. Gore tried to have a selective recount of Democratic cities while excluding the absentee ballots from the military.

Gore wanted to cherry pick what areas were recounted. He wanted to recount Miami but he wanted to exclude absentee ballots from the military because they weren't postmarked correctly by the FPO and APO. He wasn't cheated, he LOST.

So San Fran and NYC get washed out to sea... Where's the bad news part of the story?
If Lake Michigan swells enough we might actually win the trifecta and sweep away Chicago. Imagine how much the welfare rolls (and Dem voter registration) would shrink. - 5 months ago
