Lowe's pulls its advertising from "All American Muslim" after pressure from Christian extremists

Lowe's MIGHT change its mind, if people apply enough pressure. The company is already sort of, kind of attempting to backtrack.
Oh, and forget about "I'll shop at Home Depot from now on." That is actually a very conservative company that gives a lot of money to anti-gay candidates.
All American Muslim is a reality show about Muslim families in Dearborn, Mich.

Actually I feel a much greater concern about the companies that through advertising dollars support the Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Fox news, and Bill O'Reilly programs...if Lowe's pull;s their ads... so what, all it means is that they reach a smaller audience.... I would suggest that this anger aimed at Lowe's be directed at corporations that are actively supporting the modern day Julius Streicher, and Joseph Goebbels.that have driven the division between us that has become so wide .

Want to protest Lowe's and other merchants who caved to bigotry, and help their workers at the same time?
This just occurred to me. I was looking at all the headlines about Lowe's thinking to myself, "Damn, I go in there all the time." Then it hit me...
...what if people went into Lowe's, filled their carts with a bunch of merchandise, got in the check out line, and when they got to the register said:
"This is what I would have bought if Lowe's hadn't
pulled their ads from that TLC show"And walk out.
What this does is it let's Lowe's know that there is a real, tangible, monetary loss that results from a boycott.
How does that help their workers?
Lowe's has to pay employees to restock the shelves. That's something they can't do with an automated self-checkout register.
(You should avoid using self-checkout lanes anyway because it cuts down on the number of jobs Lowe's and others create.)

You appear to forget that all cost of operation get passed onto the consumer. Occupy along with union reps pulled this stunt at walmart, and other retailers.. This is what will cause Occupy to fail, no one gets "converted" by this type of action.
Imagine, if you will, having to lay down a deposit to get a cart to shop at you local merchant, that'll show that big box store fer sure

I'm all for giving my bucks to a more "local" hardware store. Ace franchises are technically about as close as most of us can get to a real local hardware store nowadays. But one thing to remember is that they might also be sponsoring rabid right wing radio (say that 3 times fast!). Here in Jacksonville, I know at least one of the local Ace stores sponsors Rush Limbaugh on the local AM-hate machine.
Additionally, simply because Ace isn't on the list of advertisers pulling their ads, doesn't mean they would have bought ad space on "All American Muslim" in the first place.
Personally, if I have to go to a hardware store I probably WILL choose Ace, as you suggest, but only because it supports a local business (franchise at least) rather than a corpororate big box. Here in NE Florida, I seriously doubt most small businesses are all that progressive in thought. :(

Lone Hoot, you're probably right, but as I said on an earlier thread about this...Ace is small box and locally owned...and that's good enough for right now...I doubt we can find a perfect solution, so it may come down to the lesser evil...seems like we are faced with that a lot lately, but I am hopeful that will change...:)

Christianity is the Biggest religious con in the world. A fake deity sets up laws that change according to it's leaders prejudices from century to century. Nothing is consistent and it creates a new enemy every century. It amazes me just how small minder Christians are. They all need to be forced to take a free thinking course.

Lowe's has a facebook page - a comment of protest there is an easy thing to do. No profanity or threatening language is needed - just the assertion that it is very disappointing that Lowe's would react this way to such a tiny group (comparatively speaking) of religious zealots.

Just because an evangelical jumps up and condems your business does not mean that you are going to lose business. There is a whole host of other Americans out there that pay no mind to this power hungry group of
psuedoChristians that want you to think along their lines. And if you don't, they condemn you. Well condemn them back. Versions of their religion started back in the 1600's where they were kicked out of Europe. The latest groups, the CoC and the Mormons, are beyond the pale of what they believe and no further from the truth than the 2000 year old catholics. - 6 months ago

As an electrical contractor I purchase large quantities of materials from Lowes. Probably upwards of $20,000.00 a year, some years a little less and other much more. Had I even heard of their sponsorship for an All American Muslim show I would have taken my business to Home Depot around the block. I totally support their decision not to play into this propaganda campaign.

I do not buy junk paint and would not buy the trash they sell at Lowe's or Home Depot. My customers are people with high standards and I treat them as such. I get very good prices at Sherwin Williams. Lowe's and Home Depot cannot match the quality of paint I use and the crap they sell costs more than I pay for good products at SW.
Before you tell me I do not know what I am talking about, I have over 19 years of painting experience. I have owned my own company for more than 15 years. I have been using SW most of those years.
