Cheney calls for air strike on Iran over captured drone

Cheney caused enough damage to this country. I don't think he should even be relevant anymore.

Instead Obummer whined and said please. The drone should have had a cruise missile or JDAM on top of it within a half hour.

self destruct button for sure. but pakistan just chased us out of the air field we were using for drone attacks. maybe that was a factor. but if i know obama, he has something up his sleeve. the repubs are tearing him up on this.

I know the book is about five years old now but has anyone read Naomi Klein's book "The Shock Doctrine..."? If not, do so, the answers to some of these questions are there. These cads have been planning this crap they've foisted upon us over the last ten years, actually longer, and we need to get hip and stop them. Would that the OWS movement succeeds, there's no more time to allow them to continue on their crusade..

So basically we flew a spy drone over Iran, which I'm sure Iran could have easily taken that as an act of war. If Iran would have done this here, how would the USA react? Then the drone is lost, and recovered by Iranians. Now Cheney is so ignorant, and overall incompetent, to think we should bomb them over our misdeeds? Someone should just put him in front of a fake camera in a nursing home never to return to see him again.

Why use a spy plane anyway? Isnt that what satellites are for?

These drones are wonderful inventions, but you'd think they would program them to self-destruct if aquired by other nations.

President Obama would be wise not to listen to Dick Cheney. Dick Cheney caused many of the problems we have today. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney led this country over the cliff, while enriching the Military Industrial Complex. Dick Cheney and his base, the have's and have more's make money from war. We will be paying a price for their mistakes well into the future.

It's a little late now... now they'd see it happen and declare war on us. WHICH Cheney told Bush to do in the first place. Most times when a drone goes down it's destroyed with a missile but when it's in a hostile nation you can't really do that. Especially since they didn't even know where the drone went down at first.

Blowing the drone up on the ground would have been a good idea,....but it may have been hard to target,.....and you don't want to kill lots of civilians to take it out.

Someone could pose as a government official and say," Mr. Cheney the Russians are attacking, hide in this "undisclosed location" and we will come back for you when it's safe. And then try to forget where he is.

Yep! This is expected. The Military/Industrial complex has been angling for this for a long time. (Ol' Cheney bought-and-sold.) They will use any excuse to go to war any and everywhere in the Middle East. Oil, you know? The people of the US want to find alternatives to being dependent on oil but the Military/Industrial Complex is much too invested in the driving power of oil to let it go. They will not feel safe until they have the Middle Eastern Oil Fields (How short sighted is that?). The People of the States have made it plain that they don't want them fracking around in the US (not that that will be particularly fruitful in the long run, anyway), so they feel they need to secure the Middle Eastern Oil Fields. Too bad industry has seemingly irrevocably sold the military on powering their forces with oil and oil derivatives. Industry could have developed alternative methods but that would have meant actually spending money on research and development instead of sticking it in their pockets. Heck, if we are as short of inventive minds as they would have us believe, they could have even spent the money on exploration instead of sticking it in their pockets. BTW, I have forgotten how the old story goes. What folly was it that killed the goose that layed the golden egg?

I think old Shoot 'em in the Face should be air dropped into Iran with his trusty shotgun and personally get it back or destroy it. Iran could then do the world a favour and capture him to send to the International Criminal Court or they could just shoot him. Either way they would be doing a big service to the human race.
