    • The U.S. view of chimpanzees has been particularly schizophrenic. FWS lists wild chimps as endangered, but captive chimps aren't. Thus, we have chimps being kept in home basements as pets and in labs as research subjects while we tell African nations to protect and respect the chimps who live free in their countries.

      FWS may reconsider our topsy-turvy policy. They MAY decide that we should walk the talk. They are taking comments until January. Please weigh in with your thoughts!
