Capitalism, the lofty goal of a defective being. Not such a bad idea but out of the reach for such a single minded being as ourselves. We never seem to learn from experience so we continually make things even worse for our children, thats the real tragedy here. What are we leaving for the kids we all love and hope the best for, this? Shame on us.

I'd like to see it all crumble to the ground...then we can turn to each other to survive and learn how to live again.

capitalism, and the honest profits that in turn motivate competition and ad=vances, are not the problem. greed is. corruption. the 'american experiment' is not a fauilure, it was just murdered by greed and corruption. that said, i look forward to being part of the hand that delivers the final death stroke to this corrupt and bloated system. last june, when we decided to start a little protest in the following september, even we didnt imagine it would blossom so quickly into a global movement that only three months after its birth was moving into the second phase, and preparing not only nifty jargon to post at rallies and on internet boards, but solutions for what the 'next' system will be, and how wie will maintain a government that does what it should: take care of its people, from the poorest and weakest on up, as opposed to the monetary monarchy where profit is king and corruption its filthy whore, controlling our minds and lives. hail to the king baby, now get on with the death scene!

I'm all for a social democracy. The combination of a socialist, yet democratic society has the power to bring all of humanity together and realize the unlimited growth potential of the human race. I hear people say that capitalism breeds creativity and innovation, but I see the opposite. How many good ideas have been shot down because of low profit expectations. Especially in the form of medicine.

I think if we remove the profit motive, true creativity and innovation will be unleashed, and lead us into the most prosperous time in all of mankind for all of mankind.

Laissez-faire MUST DIE, that's part of the basic issue! "Capitalism" does-NOT equate to american-style laisez-faire-capitalism. America suffers from (as the article states) the madness and true evil of those "Chicago School" scum and their holy prophet Milton Friedman (may he burn in his so very much deserved hell).

Well written! 1 thing I've always found so amusing about the basic debates about the precious-and-holy-economy (and the wrong-wingers "ideas" about it) is this idea that oh you just need to keep pushing people to be more "productive" that's the answer! "productivity gains"... they always fail to see that human beings are physical organism with physical (and mental!) limits. You can't just get infinite gains in speed, output etc. Did these idiots not learn -anything- from what was going on with the Japanese famously years ago, that they were literally worked to-death trying desperately to serve their precious god-companies. And then there is the basic problem, that very few will even talk about. What are you to do with people in a world where technology is almost in exponential growth, and population continues to grow. More people for less and less jobs. And the wrong-wingers insist that there will be no "well-fare state", what's the alternative? Mass homelessness, people in "camps"...?

This economic,financial system has been created exclusively for the wealthy to continue their gains while 99% of society struggle from paycheck to paycheck, if they are lucky enough to have a paycheck and worse yet, most of these gains are at the cost of our health and the environment!
Due to this rigged system our whole society has been hijacked! It is now completely controlled by those intent on nothing, but continued gain and profit ...even while known that this insane behavior will eventually be their own demise, they are a new form of parasite which is all too willing to kill their host for wealth and power.
Who are these few who will sacrifice so many for their own short term comforts?

This theft of wealth is one thing...some of us are not concerned about wealth and in my personal opinion are better off for it, but destroying our home,our planet for their own personal wealth ? Sacrificing ourselves and our children's lives so they can have 30-40 years of comfort ? Making us sick with diseases so they can feed their greed....Killing the wildlife, polluting the very soil and water we depend on for life !
How did these individuals become so important to rule the rest of us? In their quest for more they are killing all of us...I don't ask , "how can they sleep at night? " I ask, " How can we? "
We keep hoping for, " The truth to get out" isn't it already OUT ?
The few thousand individuals that control the corporations that destroyed the earth....we don't know them all , but isn't it about time they answered for the destruction they have caused and the destruction they continue to cause ? They have already proven...they will not stop until there is nothing left..even themselves!

I am very thankful that myself and my wife both are of the same mind and vision about this very subject. We are taking advantage of the free market to set ourselves up financially to enable us to get off the USA Titanic while it hasn't yet officially crashed into the iceberg! I would love to be able to call it quits now but it will take about 5 years before we can free ourselves from this declining empire. We are targeting several different countries at this point and are taking trips over the next 5 years to evaluate them all for our USA retirement!

The criteria is quite simple - a friendly, stable, sane, and affordable place to call home. A decent ability to speak English, an infrastructure that is usable, and the ability to live nicely for quite a bit less than it costs here. The list of places that qualify are endless right now! I'm not sure how this all plays out because it is a fluid situation but I do know this - the USA has become a toxic place that has lost it's soul and many many many of it's citizens see it coming and are setting themselves up as we are.

What has been quite interesting over the last 3 years as we began doing our research and talking to our friends about it - we have found more and more people that have been thinking that exact same way! Yes, you give up some of the big luxuries that we have become fat and lazy on - however, the gains in living in a much happier, less stressful, simpler environment supported by a more organic diet is vastly superior than what life would be like on the current trajectory.

I am guessing that GW made it very hard for the common people to file bankruptcy for a reason, the interment camps he had Halliburton build seem to have been built as Debtor Prisons... Very odd and a bit frightening to see what or how 2012 will be....
