Both are likely to be extradited to Maryland where between them they face 12 counts of murder for allegedly terminating viable fetuses.
One of the abortions is believed to have taken place at 36 weeks, well beyond the point at which most fetuses are able to survive outside of the womb.
The charges come at the end of 16-month investigation that began when in August 2010 after a botched procedure at the clinic. According to a previous investigation by medical regulators, an 18-year-old woman was left with a ruptured uterus and injuries to her bowel after undergoing an abortion procedure by the doctors.
Rather than call for an ambulance, they drove her to a nearby hospital where they allegedly would not cooperate with emergency room staff and Dr Brigham refused to give his name.

And in Congress, anti-abortion fervor has gained such political clout that House Republicans voted to ban federal funding to the nation’s largest provider of contraceptive services, Planned Parenthood, and to vacate all federal funding of Title X, the nation’s contraception program for the poor.
There is no logic to those who oppose abortion making it more difficult to obtain contraception. What do these folks think happens when couples don’t use contraception, for whatever reason. Did they close their eyes during health class, or are they just closing their eyes now to the obvious consequences of their actions?
And by what perverse logic is it conservative for advocates of smaller government to make efforts to constantly expand the government’s ability to tell a woman what she can or cannot do with her body — or to make her jump through hoops as if she were a child before she can do what she feels she has to do.
It is conservative only in its reflection of fundamentalist theocracies in which a religious minority — or even a religious majority — seeks to impose its faith on everyone else.

The GOP’s concerted campaign against women’s health and right to choose to use birth control prescriptions has resulted in about 1,000 anti-abortion bills in state legislatures across the country that include attempts to eradicate women’s access to contraceptives by redefining “personhood” rights as beginning at the moment of conception. Such laws will criminalize the most common birth control choice - the birth control pill.

actually personhood was redefined with roe vs wade, in reality the moment of conception is the defining fact of life and no one is against womens health. we are against paying up for a man or womans irresponsible sexual behavior. its funny how the left make free for all fucking a womans health issue. fucking either with or without a condom is a lifestyle choice, why should i pay up for the bad choices made by others.

Right on dude. But you have a word in your comment that just does not compute with the zombies who populate the indigent class, or the Leftists themselves; "sensible"! Self-centered and selfish certainly does describe the for the most part, the ignorant women who find themselves spread eagle on the table for the abortionist to have his way with her. I think if an indigent is on public assistance and has been for a certain number of years, and there is no way to support themselves or children, they should be sterilized.
I wonder who the 'lil sackless troll is who goes around and votes comments down but does not have the intllectual ability to actually post a comment. Well, reminds me of, "it's better to stay silent and be thought a fool rather than speak and confirm it". Once again Congoboy, your comment was voted down by a ghost, so I voted ya back up to 0!

Yup, all you gotta do to see what the future holds is look at the birth rates, not only here, but in Europe as well. The educated class are having just 1 child, or none at all, while the indegent class are spawning large numbers of inept takers for the future. WIth the way things are going, it's real easy to see that there will be a shift which will have many more takers than producers.

its about time, murder is murder is murder. unethical and immoral laws can not be a justification for hitleresque popultaion control for self centered, selfish people. if you dont want children fine. but either practice safe and sensible sex or dont fuck. pretty simple really. and if you get pregnant or get someone pregnant either man or woman up.

This is the third legislative session in a row in which Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), the sponsor of the "Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act," has introduced a bill that would bar federal funding for family planning clinics. This time he is finally getting some traction: Astoundingly, House Republicans have expanded his attack to encompass all funding for contraception, zeroing out funding for family planning services in the continuing resolution to fund the government through September, which passed the House this afternoon.

For example Christianity Today has a featured story entitled "A hard pill to swallow" about one women plight with her knowledge that the pill she was taking was a sin against God. "I grew uneasy with the minuscule chance—be it one in a million of millions—that my womb might turn away a cluster of 128 or 256 cells knitted together in the image of God."

50 years after birth control pills were first available for public use and women are still fighting with conservative politicians and religious associations that are trying to reverse these earlier decisions. They are trying to take the right of women to have access to birth control. I will never understand how conservative Republicans want run on the platform of small government yet still want the government to control things like education and women's rights.

Texas GOP Rep On Cuts To Family Planning: ‘Of Course This Is A War On Birth Control’

Tea Party Republicans’ Latest Attack on Women’s Health and Birth Control
This morning, Tea Party Republicans in the House will launch their latest attack on birth control and women’s health. Rep. Joe Pitts, chair of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, will hold a hearing about taking away new preventive benefits from millions of American women. The clear aim of this hearing is to undermine the recent decision by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that ensures health plans will cover birth control with no co-pays — one of the most popular benefits of the Affordable Care Act.

The GOP really showed their true colors earlier this year with the Planned Parenthood defunding debacle. They wanted to strip an organization of money because 3% of its total services are abortions, completely ignoring the other 97%, which include cancer screenings, annual exams, and birth control, usually for free or at a low cost for low-income women and men. They showed that it’s not really abortion they are opposed to — if it were, they wouldn’t have tried to cut a program that provides services to prevent them. They proved it’s actually health care for the poor and reproductive autonomy that they are really against.

Texas GOP Representative Declares ‘War On Birth Control’
Posted by Jacob Sloan on September 21, 2011
Wayne Christian - TEXAS The Texas Republican Party is engaged in a far-reaching and sustained “war on birth control”. No, that’s not the teaser from a Planned Parenthood press release — it’s the pronouncement of (aptly named) state legislator Wayne Christian. Creepiest war ever. Via Think Progress:
When The Texas Tribune asked state Rep. Wayne Christian (R-Nacogdoches), a supporter of the family planning cuts, if this was a war on birth control, he said “yes.”
“Well of course this is a war on birth control and abortions and everything, that’s what family planning is supposed to be about,” Christian said.
While disturbing, Christian’s honesty is a refreshing change from Republicans’ more common defense that cuts to women’s health care will save money. As NPR notes, the state estimates that 300,000 women will lose access to family planning services because of these cuts, resulting in roughly 20,000 additional unplanned births. “Texas already spends $1.3 billion on teen pregnancies — more than any other state.”

no ones against family planning, just paying for abortions. family planning should start before a woman spreads her legs. and if looked at honestly pences plan makes sense...Rep. Mike Pence (R., Ind.), has proposed a bill that would prevent abortion providers from receiving Title X money. Mr. Pence has made it clear his legislation is aimed at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, which is the nation’s biggest provider of abortion services and also a major recipient of Title X money.
“The largest abortion provider in America should not also be the largest recipient of federal funding under Title X,” Mr. Pence said at a recent “March for Life.” “The time has come to deny any and all federal funding to Planned Parenthood of America.”
Anti-abortion groups, in something of a new tactic, have been elevating their attacks on Planned Parenthood in recent weeks. The cite videos that purport to show Planned Parenthood staffers providing advice to people who say they’ve involved in sex trafficking of teens. Planned Parenthood says the videos are doctored, but they’ve also fired an employee and announced a new round of training.

Well, personally, my opinions on abortion are not relevant, BUT, since my opinions on abortion do not condone the use of taxpayer funds to support or assist abortion providers, I don't see a problem at all with the prohibition of taxpayer funds going to abortion providers. There's nothing ignorant about my position on this, but there is plenty of ignorance with those who don't see a problem with taxpayer funds being given to abortion providers. For the record, the great Mike Pence is from my state, and he's a great guy!

And your point is?!?! Why should I have to pay for someone else's birth control? That's the dumbest thing, and the ignorant bitch who expects me to pay for her pills, or pay for her abortion, or pay for her child can suck my,,,,well, you know. Adults need to be adults, not wards of the state. If they can't afford a spawn, they should not have one. It's a very simple thing. My wife and I did not have a child until we were ready. It was not difficult at all to avoid an un-ready-for pregancy. These worthless indigents just need to start using what little bit of their brains functions, and try to muster up some self-control and stop behaving like animals.
