So the movie "2012" was not a documentary. The fact that the movie was set in the future should have gave that away. Everyone knows that doomsday will not start until the transformers come to earth.

hmmm what do calendars do? They repeat. what happens December ends it goes to the next cycle. maybe... just maybe, an astrological calender will also repeat a pattern to the next cycle when it ends. not a hard concept to understand . I fucking hate people.....

NO! NO! This is all LIES!
The END has already come.
Have You ALL Already forgotten that the world Ended With Y2K?!!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
BTW, there is a small cadre of Historians who believe the Dark Ages were partly a response to the fact that the world didn't end in the year 1000.

The world actually ended last night at midnight MST. Anything that has happened since is just a hallucination.

Y2K was a successful CIA scheme to distract the world from the real vulnerability of DOS operated military satellites that actually occurred on 01/01/00.
Granted 1000 AD was a funny but hugely embarrassing moment in Christian history.
But 13 B'aktun (12/21/12, or 0.0.0.0.0. in the Maya count) has nothing to do with either one of these events. - 5 months ago

I am somewhat annoyed that so many people just accept what they HEAR about this amazing period of time, without ever really understanding the potential. This is a subject that deserves our thoughts as much as any other. Do yourself a favor and read. Then we can all know truth instead of reciting rumors to one another.
Just last week for example, my youngest brother looked at me with an all too familiar glint in his eyes that said he and his pals had been on some "real shit" and said, and I quote, "word on the street is the mayans didn't predict the apocalypse, but just a, -- ..change". and he looked at me like he was dropping some huge nugget on me. made me smile.
I asked him, why take the "word on the street"? read this, and gave him off my shelf a book called Fractal Time by Gregg Braden. it may not be the complete history on the subject but at least the information comes with sources.

This is my favorite subject, because it offers more hope for humanity than 100 obamas. in fact, it offers hope that all people will soon see through this bogus system we all cling to so desperately.
Those of us who know these great truths intuitively, are responsible for spreading the vision. we must be the change we wish to see. or in this case, the change we already know is necessary.
there will be peace. with or without humans.

According to Carl Johan Calleman, the Mayan Calendar already ended last year. "What the October 28, 2011 “end” means here is that the thirteen baktun Long Count and the other eighth sequences of thirteen heavens have now all been completed. This “end” also means that the climb to the top of the nine storied pyramid has been completed and that the cosmos is not offering a higher level to go than this one of unity consciousness."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1rOXHnI_lU
"was the first time in cosmic history that all the nine waves were activated in a state of light and in fact an excellent opportunity for integration of their total energy field, the fundamental shift of the ages and now for some time the composite of these energies will be playing out in our individual lives as well as in the history of our planet at large. There is no turning back."

I personally do not believe the end of the Mayan calendar can have any affect on us whatsoever. That said, here's my prediction. The Republicans win the White House, but so many members of the 99% voted for Obama that something is obviously afoot. On December 21, 2012, proof of conservative wrong doing is revealed. An investigation shows rampant voter fraud on the part of the Republican party. Arrests and convictions go all the way to the top of the disgraced party in question, and ushers in the end of conservatism across the planet. Following this purge of world wide evil, an era of planetary co-operation ensues. Poverty is ended in 50 years. Entire generations never see warfare. Science begins to trump superstition. Crime becomes a thing of the past because everyone has what they need. Diseases are cured and all humans find happiness. The use of currency ends by 2075. Humans leave the planet and explore the galaxy. I know. It sounds to good to be true.

I know you do. Since the first time I heard about the Mayan calendar (about five years ago) I have been amazed at how closely it coincides with the American presidential elections. Like I said. I do not believe anything can happen. And by the way, I do not use alcohol or drugs. Maybe I'll use both on December 20, 2012.

Good article! We need to seperate Mesoamerican cosmology from Judeochristian theology.
Mesoamerican calenders is a more accurate term than Mayan calender because the Aztec, Chichimec, Huastec, Maya, Olmec, Toltec, Totonac and Zapotec all follow the calenders of Quetzalcoatl/Kukulcan.

We will enter a new age of consciousness. It's already begun. The turmoil we see globally which is waking up the consciousness of the people is part of it I believe. Our Earth is also speaking to us because she is in pain... hopefully this year will be the one when we truly start listening collectively and working to heal her in order to heal ourselves by seeing what is truly precious to our lives... And it isn't money.

That is my dream as well.
I like how they call it "the Fifth Sun." The famous Aztec Sun Stone Calender of Quetzalcoatl (pictured above) depicts the previous Four Suns around the Fifth Sun we are entering at the center. Notice how the Sun is sticking its tongue out at us. - 5 months ago

You think they anticipated the mindset of the human race now and that people would misinterpret this and act accordingly? Looks that way.

I wonder, since the Maya are so good at math, if they calculated that Earth's human population would reach 7 billion in 2012.

Saw a documentary about the topic and a lot with Mayan time-keeper Leonzo Barreno was included. He said it would be the end of a cycle, described as 'world' and beginning of a new cycle/world. What is ending, has been in process of ending for some time now, was the Material World. What begins is the Ether World.
Wow, that was made a bit before many of us were on the internet, using our 'ethernet' mechanisms and such words. We are moving from the world of earth-centric certainty to the door of an exciting frontier. Old means of communication and learning will not suffice. But we have already been moving toward 'ether' in how we communicate and learn.
And as we, as a species, turn our minds to gathering information and making more educated theories about what lies beyond our little world called Earth, one might wonder that the old Mayan timekeepers might have been bringing good news.
Frankly, the only way I figure we, as a species, will survive is to get beyond our materially focused infantile obsessions and move on to more expansive preoccupations. So many possibilities. Such a big universe.
Frankly, I am looking forward to the next winter solstice. Could be exciting or it could be just another mote in the eye of a cosmic speed bump. But I welcome it.
Of course, I will also be working to get myself at peace with the universe. I hope to be worthy of finding something interesting in every day. Whatever Dec 21 is/will be this year, it has been in the making for a very long time. And I figure most of us won't notice a thing.
