My penis respectfully tips its hat to that vagina.
(. . . . but from the sound of things, there may be something of a waiting line, and a coat check,....so I just think I'll just spend some time with this magazine outside the foyer. ) - 5 months ago

As long as girls look up to Snooki, Kim Kardashian and any other plethora of nonsense females on television, we can't expect any better.

Alright a real feminist I can pretty much agree with... I get tired of young, dumb, "feminists" that think "empowerment" means being on top..... (of as many guys as they can, as if the women's lib movement was about excusing female promiscuity and irresponsibility....)

Bravo! I'm 50, but I think the young girls/women of today need to hear this. They need to think and ask themselves "why." I had great sex ed classes in high school. I paid attention. When I was a young single woman, I went to Planned Parenthood and went on the pill. I had regular check ups. I didn't want kids, so it was just common sense for me to go on birth control. I took responsibilty for myself and it paid off. What this article talks about I see too much of. These "oops" moments. I don't buy it. There is birth control out there. Then there are movies like "Juno" out there that seem to glorify this trend. Just my opinion.

That's because right now it's fashionable amongst females to get knocked up from a hook-up and be a single mo.
Juno and MTV's "16 and pregnant" started the fashion trend.
The past few years when I have been hooking up with chicks, I often get "o you don't have to wear a condom for me baby". They want to get knocked up. They want my man-seed. I heard horror stories of chicks taking turkey basters and sucking the seed out of the used condom and inserting it in themselves.

I think I might have to disagree a little.
While I too had decent sex ed in high school and open access to birth control I don't feel that my daughter does. There are now permission slips that must be signed for your child to participate in any sex related education and a lot of parents don't allow their child to be a part of it; nor are they talking to them at home about it. It is certainly not an open conversation kind of a topic and young women are under educated as a result.
There is also stigma attached to those who seek out birth control. I know in my own experience the receptionist was aghast when I wanted to make an appointment to put my daughter (she's 15) on the pill. She literally stumbled over her words as if she'd never heard of such a thing. One can only imagine what it would be like if she were making this attempt on her own rather than with a parent.
I also don't think that the movie Juno glorified teen pregnancy, but rather painted it pretty accurately. The character in that movie wasn't promiscuous or looking to fulfill the latest fashion trend, but rather she was an intelligent, spunky, strong willed, young person who found herself in a situation that she'd never thought she'd be in. She made a mistake; it happens unfortunately.
I haven't done the research to see if teen pregnancy is up with my daughter's generation more-so than with my mother's generation, but I do know these girls and dealing with stuff way beyond their maturity level and most of the time neither their parents or society is preparing them for that.

I see your points, cantucwearebrothers. I know here in WI, they are now defunding Planned Parenthood (thanks to our asshole governor) and teens/young women don't have the access I had.

That is truly sad.
It was wrong how the receptionist was aghast just because you wanted your 15 year old daughter on the pill. That's called being responsible. Nothing to be aghast about. I don't know where you went, but to my knowledge, Planned Parenthood doesn't act that way. I know the PP centers here in WI want to help and keep there clinics open and available to all.
"but I do know these girls and dealing with stuff way beyond their maturity level and most of the time neither their parents or society is preparing them for that."
That I agree with. I come from a different time where if you couldn't go to your parents, you could go to your sex ed teacher or to PP. Society has changed so much, and not for the better. I'm an ole 70's chick and things were different then. But I will stand by my statement about the "oops" moment. That should not happen (especially a second time) because the girl should know by then how the first one came about and in this economy and the way the world is, why have another one? - 5 months ago

Sad yes, but mind-numbing? With cradle to the grave capitalist consumer culture, a generation absolutely conditioned on perpetual youth? nothing mind-numbing here, just the totally predictable outcome of a generation lost, lost in identifying themselves and their personal value in perpetual youth fantasy, if you walk through a mall sometime, you'll find that "Victoria" has very few "secrets" .

Not in a million years . Females are exploited enough as it is . For just that reason . Looks get attention alright . It is a double edged sword , and a dangerous freaking world . I strongly recommend every female get a mentor to guide her through the Aphrodite stage . Females HAVE to be smarter . The alternative is too horrific .

I think we agree on many things , as for thatcher , - a man trapped in a woman's body . There is a big difference between being "tough" and "cold " . There are some remarkable men , even though growing up in a patriarchy is a handicap for many a male's character development . I have a friend who is a skydiving instructor . In a thousand jumps , the only people to ever chicken out were male . Since there is less for them to fear , they do not have to face fear every day . They do not get an opportunity to learn the coping skills .
