Santorum gets booed after claiming same sex marriage justifies polygamy

unimatrix0
Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Thursday found himself being booed by a group of students after he failed to convince them that legalizing same sex marriage would also mean that polygamy was acceptable.

A young man at New England College’s College Convention 2012 asked the candidate how same sex marriage effected him personally.

“I’m surprised I got a gay marriage question at a college crowd,” Santorum joked. “You, the one that wants to do this, tell me the justification. What is the public purpose?”

“The reason why you would change the law to begin with is because two people who love each other, who want to legally be able to see each other if they’re in the hospital, who want to just have the same right you and your wife do,” a male student replied.

Santorum argued that a legal contract would allow partners to see each other in the hospital and marriage was not necessary.

    • p.s. If 3 girls and 2 guys and an animistic "totem ROCK" want to declare they have a bond,....ass far as I am concerned,... MORE POWER TO THEM !

p.s. I meant "as",.....but I am OK with the way it stacks up in that example

    • I personally think folks should have the RIGHT to consensual polygamy,....so I sort of take offense at pointing to "polygamy" as some sort of "bad boy".

Fuck that. Get off polygamies case.

    • what a fucking controlling hypocrite...even in the way he conducts this discussion. He throws a question out there and then refuses to let people respond, and then goes on to control the discussion further by re-defining the parameters of his own question and attempting to force people to step in the ring with him and debate solely based upon his terms.

it is not about 50 definitions of marriage...it is about privileging one union over another.

    • "Santorum gets booed after claiming same sex marriage justifies polygamy " How does same sex marriage justify polygamy? One has nothing to do with the other. It's apples and oranges. This idiot will say anything just to put same sex marriage in bad light and jam religion down our throats.

    • Change the law? There is a history of changing bad laws in the US. Women could not vote. That was a law. Slavery was okie dokie. That was a law. People could not have a glass of wine with dinner. That was a law.

His points are convoluted. He keeps demanding rational reasoned thought and then goes into a hysterical rant that is off subject.

This is a man that will impose his religious doctrine upon the Presidency. We are not a Theocracy. He wants America to be as intolerant of ideas as Iran and yet he wants to bomb Iran.

This is a dangerously obtuse individual. It is frightening that so many people think that he would make a good leader.
