Romney campaign financed by big banks, Paul campaign financed by US military

Records of campaign contributions based on Federal Election Commission data released electronically this past weekend, reveal that Romney’s top 20 donors are made up almost exclusively of the biggest private banks on the planet.
Among Romney’s top twenty donors are Credit Suisse Group, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase & Co, Wells Fargo and Citigroup Inc.
By far and away Romney’s largest campaign contributions have emanated from employees and officials at Goldman Sachs, with a total of $354,700 donated.
In stark contrast to Romney, and every other candidate for that matter, the top three organizations that employ Congressman Ron Paul’s supporters are the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Navy.
Indeed, the latest figures once again show that the Ron Paul 2012 Campaign has raised more donations from active military than all other presidential candidates—Republican or Democrat.
Unlike the majority of the rest of the field, Ron Paul’s donations have come solely from individuals and not from the use of PACs, bundling, subsidiaries and the like – indicating that the Congressman is the only candidate with purely grassroots support.

Those of you thinking that Paul is the new Messiah need to remember that his anti-interventionist stance is misleading. He doesn't want us in Afghanistan, but he also doesn't want us getting involved in any conflict in which we would need to defend ourselves, or in any humanitarian actions. He thinks WWII was merely a "war to save the Jews" -- which is, in and of itself, an extremely disturbing statement. This man's anti-Semitism is nauseating, but on topic: If Paul had been president in 1941, not only would he have let Japan attack us on our own territory, but he would have let Hitler overrun and enslave Europe, and then America. What's a President Paul going to do if we experience another 9/11? Light a joint and see how close the terrorists get to the White House?
And if you're imaging that Paul's anti-government stance is some utopia-in-the-making, think again: He will have no hesitation in selling your civil rights to STATE governments. States' righters are only against federal intervention in private lives; they're all for the states controlling everything we say and do. Paul believes that it's wrong for the feds to say you can't do something, but perfectly all right for your governor and state legislature to forbid you from being a free citizen with even basic human rights. Don't be lulled into some false sense of security: He'll gladly let the state police kick in your door without a warrant.
Paul wants the states to pay for all of their own improvements. Who do you think is really going to pay for those? It won't be the federal government. Goodbye stimulus packages, hello a meteoric rise in state and local taxes. In addition, more than one independent, non-political group has explained exactly how Paul's economic plan would wreck our economy. The man's financial policy is totally without merit in any capacity. Simply put, he has no idea what he's doing when it comes to the economy.
"One issue" voters are blind to everything about their chosen Leader that doesn't place him in a hallowed glow, and Ronulans are the worst offenders. Wake up, Paul worshipers. If you think the buyer's remorse of citizens in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Florida is bad, imagine it on a national level and forced upon us for four terrifying years. That's the future under President Paul.
The only way to a free, safe country, where human and civil rights actually matter, is Obama.

You're quoting Eric Dondero's nonsense.
Eric Dondero's goal is to smear Ron Paul as an antisemite by making the 2012 Elections all about Hitler, Jews and Israel.
Forget about Hitler. He is dead and gone and there are no Nazi groups aside of the kooks that the FBI pays to parade around in the street in Nazi costumes.
US elections should be all about the economy, the wars for profit, America and Americans as a whole, not Jews and Israel alone.
Go piss off.

maasanova: You're a Ronulan, and just as I wrote: Ronulans refuse to believe anything bad about Ron Paul, despite all the evidence of his bigotry, anti-Semitism, and good old fashioned insanity. "Forget about Hitler"? Wouldn't all you Ronulans love that. Then you could pretend that the Little Gnome loves everyone and has all our best interests at heart. You're an idiot, but then that's who Republi-cons love. It's the people like me who can think for themselves that you refuse-to-see-the-facts types resent. Thanks so much for proving my point.

This is EXTREMELY, RADICLY interesting. As I see it, it means those
true Republican citizens who back the defensive only role of the military
want Ron Paul to to end the foreign Corporate Wars of agression & Piracy.
And want him to end the mass suicides of soldiers. And to end the " Fed "
Banksters who've fueled this evil by fueling Cporporate war without end,
and the domnestic Orwellian TV surveilance culture. Long live Ron Paul !!!.He would make a much more honorable civilian miltary Commander in Chief
as President of the USA than that Bankster funded Corporate puppet Howdy
Doody Romney. As SCOTUS said. whether we like it or not, put your money
where your mouth is because Money = Vote Power !!! . The majority will IS
paramount in ANY Democratic Republic. And since 53% of every tax dollar
now funds the militrary, maybe it's long past time we civilians gave the Military
their say.. Cause it loioks like they want the USA back where it used to be
in 1941. I DO TOO !!! We were a much more civil, honest, realistic culture
back then. Because then, in 1941, most people voted. And NOONE let any
God Damned TV network sublimate them to act as TV network puppets either.

How in the hell is it legal for the Armed Forces to use public funds to support a Presidential candidate? Republican, Democrat, Independent or otherwise. Five dollars or five million dollars should not be relevant.

These are donations from members, not from the actual departments. At that point, it isn't public money, this is the money paid to the soldiers, which they then donate.

Thank you for pointing out that distinction. In the spirit of Starship Troopers
these soldiering people ARE the citizens, because their service has earned
them citizenship. We are only civilians by comparison. Still, I had a father who
enlisted in the US Army Air Force outside the U.S. Post office in Oswego, New
York with his pal Bud Dowdle, and most of his high school graduating class on
December 8, 1941. We have their photo to prove it. These people are citizen
military, the same as the Minute Men in the American Revolution. My brother's
father also enlisted in the miltary on that same date and served inb the Airborne
as a paratrooper in the gliders that were flown in to land in Normandy during
the D Day invasion of June 21, 1944. He's buried here in the USA for dying in
a foreign land in service to his country, the USA. And he has an American flag
flying over his grave in Oweego, New York. But whether he also has a USA flag
flying in Normandy, France or not, they still remember him there too. Life may
be cheap. But Liberty isn't. Trust me when I tell you it's the same all over the
world. No honest man ever forgets their sacrifice. We tend to take for granted
the easy life we have here, now because of them. But as any veteran of a
foreign War can tell you: The easiest day in conflict by Military service is
preferabe over the hardest day you'll ever face in civilian life. Getting used
to facing death is enough to make anyone realistic enough to value sacred

I agree. He's not financed by the military. The chart looks at the EMPLOYERS of supporters. If you read the article it's clear, as well as if you look at the actual donations.
He's financed by the men and women serving. They're taking their earned money (no longer public) and donating to the man they see would treat them best. It doesn't mean the US military likes him, quite the opposite in fact. However, it does mean his foreign policy attracts support from the men and women our foreign policy affects the most.
It says a LOT, to say the least.

During the 2008 campaign, Goldman Sachs donated almost $1 million to Obummer. Securities and investment firms were the fifth largest contributor to Obummer, almost $15 million. Other banks, more than $3 million.
It isn't just Romney.
I think Paul represents the only real change we can hope for. The other RNC candidates + Obummer, not so much. - 5 months ago

$23,437 listed as the top dollar contribution given to Ron Paul from the Air Force is a paltry campaign donation up against the $354,700 Goldman Sachs gave Romney, don't you think?

So bankers who can afford more give more, but the men and women who serve who have less still donate substantially, though less. I would say those giving less are actually giving more because they DON'T have BILLIONS from the bailouts. A little over a quarter million is tit to what those fucks make.

I think that the support of the troops is why the media are essentially rising up and acting as one in attacking Ron Paul.
I think that the media and rats in government that they are protecting probably fear the remote possibilty of a military and law enforcement coup, at least at the local grassroots level where Ron Paul has the most support.
