The TSA is in money making business.

Airport travelers left $409,085.56 at security checkpoints across the country in 2010, simply by emptying the change in their pockets into those plastic bins and not picking it up again. The Transportation Security Administration says they collect all the unclaimed money in a jar that gets counted and sent to the finance office where it's added to the general operations fund. (John F. Kennedy Airport in New York collected the most money; about $47,000, including some foreign currency.) Republican House member Jeff Miller of Florida has proposed that they donate that money to the USO, implying that spending any more money on the TSA is a gigantic waste of taxpayer expense. Or maybe they could donate it to the airlines to cover checked bag fees.

Is it possible for ordinary people to get a job as sex offender and keep all the cash? Probably not, the government has been doing this to us for years and it does not like the competition.

It appears they are very competent in making money, maybe this is the real goal.

Wow...I remember watching and talking to the housekeeping staff at O'hare airport in Chicago as they emptied the pay phone coin returns all over the airport, back before cell phones. I thought it was great then, kind of like a way for the lowest paid laborers to collect tips on a daily basis, and sometimes, they made a pretty good haul....people would be in a hurry to catch their planes and usually forget to wait for their change.
I have to agree with Miller, spending any more money on the TSA would seem like a gigantic waste of tax payer money...but this isn't exactly tax payer money. I think it would be nice if the TSA agents who collect the money could decide for themselves where they would like to see it donated. Personally, I would give it to those senior citizens who show up at the airports to welcome home our troops, but I do think the TSA agents themselves should decide how to donate it. The f'ing government doesn't need to stick their big bloated nose in and make some grandiose rules that taxpayers then have to pay to enforce....
