Current Censors need to loosen up: I thought Current TV was against SOPA & PIPA!

As allowed, I placed links in blog entries to blogs where either full videos and transcripts of TYT show segments could be seen since Current TV does not provide such (only 3 min blurbs). I did this to not only promote the message and mission of TYT but also to provide a reference source to other internet bloggers writing about the topics featured on its shows. The censors of Current indiscriminately removed my links on the grounds that they constituted spam. Spam?! I am promoting the show and its mission as well as providing reference material, and the censors are removing the content.

If Current TV paid a transcriptionist to transcribe TYT's shows and published them on their website like MSNBC and other news websites, I wouldn't need to devote hours, for which I am not being paid, to do so. And if Current TV published the entire shows on videos on their own website, I would not have to spend hours recording and editing their programs to make this material available to its audience.

This censorship policy is an insult to the audience of TYT and should be corrected. I thought Current was opposed to SOPA and PIPA. Or is it merely opposed to internet censorship on other websites?

    • come on current. be liberal, be progressive. allow the free exchange of anything and everything. This is the internet after all. You can try to censor and control, but you'll be on the losing end of that battle

I know right, used to be a great place to be. Now its just blah, what was once a place for spirited debate about everything has turned into just another place where wisdom and knowledge have been replaced by lines in the sand.

    • ComradeKusnetsov:

Current TV is not selling transcripts. Many major news channels provide transcripts of programs for free. Keith Olbermann provides transcripts of some of his programs; however, there were none offered for TYT. So I devoted hours transcribing the video for those bloggers who wished to quote their sources, and Current TV removed my links to these transcripts. Readers expect sources of information. And transcripts document what was said from hearsay. Current TV should be paying people to transcribe their programming. What is unbelievable is that they punish individuals who do it for free for them.

By the way, I deeply appreciate your comments. But Current hosts shows like Olbermann, Cenk Uygur, Granholm, with Al Gore, who espouse a freer, more progressive and liberal society, and then it acts petty about allowing links to transcripts (which are not provided by Current) for others in the interests of academic scholarship. How sad, Comrade. And how petty and disappointing.

    • Are you sure it was censorship? For whatever reason, there are a few blogs that Current recognizes as spam.

From my experience, I am not allowed to start a post with anything from the blogs Loonwatch, Save The Males, or Revolt of the Plebs. I'm sure there are more.

I've seen lots of stuff on SOPA sourcing blogs here on Current.

I only provided links to a blog where transcripts and videos of full segments of TYT broadcasts on Current TV, and the censor removed them on the grounds of spam! Current should be providing these transcripts and full videos, not merely 3 minute blurbs, since many internet bloggers have the need to reference the content broadcasted on these shows. This is providing a source of reference material; it is not spam.

Current TV needs to hire censors that can tell the difference between spam and reference material.
