US Newspaper Publisher Advocates Israeli Hit On Barack Obama

Gawker. com is reporting that Andrew Adler, Owner/Publisher of the Atlanta Jewish Times editorialized that one of the ways Israel could deal with its problems was to assassinate President Obama.

A tipster gave Gawker a copy of the paper, where Adler outlines three options for Israel:

"---
One, order a pre-emptive strike against both Hezbollah and Hamas, knowing that military and civilian casualties will be high, but not as high as they would be in 2017.

Two, go against Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta’s wishes that Israel take a lethal bullet in the name of preserving a healthy, worldwide economic climate, and order the destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities at all costs.

Three, give the go-ahead for U.S.-based Mossad agents to take out a president deemed unfriendly to Israel in order for the current vice president to take his place, and forcefully dictate that the United States’ policy includes its helping the Jewish state obliterate its enemies.

Yes, you read “three” correctly. Order a hit on a president in order to preserve Israel’s existence. Think about it. If I have thought of this Tom Clancy-type scenario, don’t you think that this almost unfathomable idea has been discussed in Israel’s most inner circles?

Another way of putting “three” in perspective goes something like this: How far would you go to save a nation comprised of seven million lives…Jews, Christians and Arabs alike?

You have got to believe, like I do, that all options are on the table.
---"

Adler has apologized for the column and has said that he will write a public apology in the next issue. Under Israeli law, Adler could be sentenced for up to five years in jail. There is no word on whether the Secret Service is investigating.

I understand your argument and your position nursediesel, however I would challenge you to find one op-ed written so openly so brazenly suggesting the intelligence service of a foreign country contemplating the assassination of a President of the United States.

    • Hitler's minions used the same kind of logic to whip up the populous into a blood frenzy. I'm not connecting members of the Jewish press to the Nazi regime, merely making an observation.

Now that should stir up some controversy.

    • Its funny how this guy hasn't been arrested yet, in 2006 an anti-bush blogger vikram buddhi was arrested for posting anti-bush threats quick fast and sentenced to 57 months in prison and more recently, jules manson a failed tea party candidate called for the presidents assassination via his facebook page saying "assassinate the fucken nigger and his monkey children"

      http://freakoutnation.com/2011/12/18/tea-party-politician-on-obama-assassinate-t...

I don't know who makes the decision prosecute but they are being far to soft on these threats, especially given the history of attacks on presidents in america, a system interested in protecting its leader, should not have to wait until some journalist breaks a story to investigate or until some homeless vagabond with a rifle that thinks he's jesus comes around and starts taking potshots at the white house.

    • No too many people here at Current will dare to touch this issue even as it has been posted multiple times, two of which were from me.

No one really seems all that interested in the advocating of the assassination of the President of the United States. Why would you suppose that it?

Can you imagine if this had been written in say, a column by David Duke or Pat Buchannan instead of some Jewish magazine owner?

We'd never hear the end of it from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC),the Chris Matthews, the Rachel Maddows all of the bloggers at Media Matters, all the way down to the Sandy Berman foot soldier spammers.

But since the article advocating the assissination of President Obama was written by a Jew, it's like crickets around here.

still dont get how you are rocking the bigot hat.
it isnt a matter of who says what, as if a person is granted a pass based on race or religion.
the fact that duke and buchannan have networks of people who are pro-active in regards to them.as this guy is just some asshole.

i know its hard, but if you can muster the strength to pretend your not bias in regards to race and evaluate matters objectively, it wont satisfy you nearly as well, but it will explain better the reality.

its like crickets, cuz only you think it matters what the religion of the writer is.the rest of us see no greater specticle in a jewish guy doing what myriads of others have also done.much like most of your offerings, it is actualy a nonstory.hence the crickets
