Arkansas Democratic Campaign Manager Comes Home To Find Child's Cat Murdered, 'LIBERAL' Written On Dead Body

Aden’s campaign manager, Jake Burris, lives in central Arkansas with his four kids. Blue Arkansas has more on the scene at Burris’s home (emphases are ours):
Last night, Jake and his four kids had come back to their Russellville home. As they were getting out of the car, one of his children discovered their family cat dead on the front porch. One side of the animal’s head had been bashed in and an eyeball was hanging out of its socket. But there was something even more horrifying to be found on the corpse. Written across the animal’s fur in black marker was the word “LIBERAL“.
Pope County, where Burris lives, is a highly-conservative area of Arkansas. Aden has been running for the 3rd congressional district seat, currently held by Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR), since August 2011. He released a statement on the matter this morning: “To kill a child’s pet is just unconscionable. As a former combat soldier, I’ve seen the best of humanity and the worst of humanity. Whoever did this is definitely part of the worst of humanity.”
It is unclear at this time precisely who committed this heinous act.

I just picked up a new and disgusting wrinkle to this story. Turns out the father of Steve Womack, (the Republican Representantive running against the victim here), runs a radio station in the district this campaign is happening in. Evidently, they have been broadcasting Ken Aden's HOME ADDRESS on the station and saying "watch your back" in retribution to Ken being critical of Steve Womack.
IOW, this is NOT just a case of vitriol in a political environment leading a disturbed person to do something, well, disturbing. This was actually to some degree FACILITATED by the father of the opposing candidate. While I do not hold him accountable for killing the cat, doxing a political candidate on an AM radio station amounts to a call for action.
Perhaps a certain radio station owner needs doxing himself? Anyone?
(BTW, under no circumstances do I EVER advocate the killing or maiming of helpless animals). - 4 months ago

Now the LIBERALS will rush to present this as typical, of course.

Someone murdered a child's pet, this is not what most rational people do. Most people are capable of disagreeing on the subject of politics without harming anyone. Then again you have the woman who self-mutilated and carved a B in her face in 2008, and a Congresswoman who is stepping down because of an act of insanity by Jared Lee Loughner. It has been widely publicized and from reading the majority of the comments here, people seem to be reacting to the cruelty. To me it speaks more to the state of mind of the person or persons who did this then a tool for political purposes. Either way the family has lost a beloved pet.

I don't think liberals will view this as "typical" as long as there's no denial from the right that these kind of people are not conservatives. In other words, you can't deny someone is a member of your family if they commit a crime. They 're still part of your family.
The rhetoric from the right via, FAUX "News", Limbaugh, Hannity, ORielly etc. has created as toxic and volatile atmosphere in this country. The problem with the kind of crap they spew is that it validates what the crazies believe and motivates them to do things like this.

Read carefully, please.
Both communism and fascism are branches of a tree; they get their sustenance from the same trunk and root.
Their essence is that in order to have what they consider an "ideal" society, there are two conditions:
1. That experts can and do plan this. A plan can be developed to organize society for the benefit of everyone.
2. A central power is necessary to carry out this plan. In America, this central power is the federal government.
In contrast to this, true lovers of liberty want to DECENTRALIZE power, and insure that states, localities and individuals make their own choices. This stands in DRAMATIC contrast to those who strive to centralize power - FOR WHATEVER REASON. THERE ARE ALWAYS REASONS, FOR OUR "OWN GOOD!"

The really sad part of this story, beside the impact on a child who lost their pet this way, it that I bet 10 to 1 that the local police will not work very hard to find out who the perpetrator or perpetrators are. The GOP have become so radicalized lately that it is becoming really scary. Why do they think that "Liberal" is a dirty word? They would really spin on their heads if they lived in Canada since one of Canada's major political parties is the "Liberals".
Also, if a radio station owner is releasing people's addresses (as is stated on here) so others can go and harass them because they don't believe in the GOP agenda, they should be charged with aiding and abetting.
This should be considered a hate crime and I hope that the FBI gets involved.

I know the GOP can't stand not being in power so they can control everything in your life, but Sarah Palin made it okay to call the opposition a terrorist. FOX News asked if it was a "terrorist bump" when the Obamas knocked fist. I have not been this repulsed by human behavior in a long time. What a horrible act of brutality against a helpless animal, and a poor child who has lost his "warm fuzzy". The majority of the comments below are spot on..."new low" and "heinous" are too soft of a sentiment, although I think several people censored themselves as I know the first thing out my mouth when reading this headline was incredibly vulgar.
Almost wish I was religious so I could just blame it on the influence of the devil of move on with life instead of knowing this is the action of a brainwashed and violent follower of the GOP.
This is absolutely an act of terrorism, designed solely to terrorize an individual or group simply because of an opposed political belief. The only difference between this and a dead fish or horse head delivered to someone is the animal belonged to the family and that makes it soooo much worse.

The people who do this kind of thing, are not people who just have political differences In a nice warm fuzzy emotionally detached NPR kind of way, they have complete and total ideological differences, just like the Nazis, that committed actions (before the terror was legal, just before Hitler fully came to power) terrorizing people in exactly the same way, they are the equivalent of Nazi Germany's SA, the dumb but enthusiastic thugs of the right, it will only get worse, count on it. take care.

if I had my way, and the bastards that did this could be found, I would:
1) Have them publicly flogged at a post, once a week every week for six months.
2) Then six months of hard labor imprisonment, I'm talking the kind of hard labor that one sees in the movie Schindler's list.
3) Then financial restitution to the family of no less than $50,000.
Just try it my way once, and let's see the kind of "recidivism" rate we end up with.
And I'm actually being very kind here, the people who did this (including the ones who paid and or ordered them to do it) should have a quick and UN-ceremonial bullet in the brain.

You're using the term "redneck" out of context, as are most people but still...
The original "rednecks" the first ones ever documented, known to exist in print were UNION guys in multiple senses of the word. 1 they were in labor unions, and 2 they lived in a union state...
They were West Virginia coal miners, defending the rights on non unionized coal miners, miners that were denied the right to unionize...
They wore red bandannas around their neck to distinguish themselves from the government and operatives of I believe it was Massey Energy...
There was actually a small "war" the "Harlan County war" to be specific... The National Guard even got called in....
Hmmm And I'd like a clarification on "Bible Thumping", I mean I could quote the Bible and point out interesting sections all day, and usually don't, but is this a broad based attack on anyone who believes in God or respects the Bible for and in whatever context?
I'm just lost, these are not actions condoned by ANY organized religion. Now admittedly, most so called "Christians" don't exactly follow the model of Christ, but still, this is indefensible, and seems a little out of line to try to blame this on religious people....
I mean Atheists can have these shit heads.... They don't fit into the "religious" category, of course nobody likes to acknowledge that most of those claiming to be religious aren't, their actions demonstrate they are atheists, and they're just using God and religion as a front.....
Nope not a religious act, you keep them....

Since I am not using the term "redneck" in a possible historical sense that you were referring to, but in the current usage of our time, (meaning a boorish, uncouth, Uneducated and typically fundamentalist people primarily concentrated in the south, but certainly not limited to the South) I am not using the term redneck out of context at all.
As far as religion is concerned, I will be as unambiguous as possible, I consider anyone which harbors delusions that their life in any aspect or capacity is directed or influenced (With the exception of the actions that such people carry on because they harbor such delusions) by an invisible man in the sky, or by "spirits" or elves, leprechauns, Minotaurs, dwarves, fairies, Zeus, Vishnu, Mohammed, Jesus, the planets, the moon, the stars, you name it, to not be playing with a full deck, and generally speaking, a life full of observation and interaction, has taught me to avoid those that aren't playing with a full deck, since inevitably bad things happen-regardless if it's me they happen to-, these delusional's vote, and perpetuate their delusional ideas through their offspring, which is the primary reason why such idiotic "Debates" such as Roe versus Wade, will never end until religion is gone, in short, there is absolutely nothing good about virtually any religion today, it is an appendage that humanity should have shed long ago, and the quicker this happens, the better for all of us, I have nothing more to say to you on the matter.

It's also been shown that serial killers usually abuse animals also. Guess Pope county and surrounding area can be expected to have some murders in the near future if there hasn't been any already. I also recall reading a story post (now far down the lists) how conservatives are the most generous loving peaceful people and liberals are nasty sh*ts. Yeah right.

"It's also been shown that serial killers usually abuse animals also." That is absolutely correct, freehit. I read alot of true crime and it's fact.

I have no words for how terribly heinous this act of cruelty is. To do this to a child's cat?! These muderous thugs who reside in the GOP want to totally eliminate the democratic process. According to these people, you don't even have the right to run for public office against one of their kind.

As much as they like to claim they love democracy it's always been obvious that they really don't. They want a return to some kind of pseudo medieval aristo rule by a handful of ultra-rich families enthroned in absolute power for eternity-amen. They believe in absolute hierarchies, and the god-given elitism of a "certain class" of people (ultra-rich white, evangelicals).

Tremendously and horrifyingly sad. I've been sharing your submission everywhere I can think of. Thank you for making us aware. Hope everyone feels the same way as you and I.
Despite the political evil of this act, I do hope the killer can be found and punished. Working (non-pay) in a pound for one year might be a good start.

I hope the culprit is identified and there is some serious consideration given to any church he/she may belong to.
