Newt Gingrich promoted Homeland Security just five days after 9/11

maasanova
The plans for a Homeland Security bureaucracy were put together years before 9/11 and only able to be publicly announced and endorsed after the terror attacks of 9/11.

In the years after 9/11 we have seen a full scale police state begin to be initiated with the Department of Homeland Security at the forefront of the destructive, anti American police state policies that now run rampant throughout the country.

Just five days after 9/11, Gingrich appeared on live TV to essentially plug the idea of Homeland Security a full 14 months before it came into existence.

    • He was far from the only person pushing for Homeland Security type organization within a week of that horrendous moment in human history. I still have a hard time rationalizing to myself why we needed yet another government entity whose supposed purpose was "the defense and protection of the American people." It to me has always been like saying the CIA, FBI, military and other groups/agencies weren't good enough which is inherently farcical to me. The one and only problem we had at the time was lack of communication and cooperation between them, but instead of working to solve that we had to make a new entity with power beyond the exorbinant powers already bestowed... anyone who didn't see the problems coming down the pike were blind. Anyone who couldn't see that Newt "The Prostate" was a selfish, greedy, powerhungry buffoon before 9/11 is also blind.
