ThinkProgress reported last week that Kansas House Speaker Mike O’Neal (R) was forced to apologize to First Lady Michelle Obama after forwarding an email to fellow lawmakers that called her “Mrs. YoMama” and compared her to the Grinch.

Earlier that same week, the Lawrence Journal-World was sent another email that O’Neal had forwarded to House Republicans that referred to President Obama and a Bible verse that says “Let his days be few” and calls for his children to be without a father and his wife to be widowed.

Nick Sementelli at Faith in Public Life notes that Psalm 109, which is a prayer for the death of a leader, became a popular conservative meme after Obama’s election. The “tongue-in-cheek” prayer for the president was seen on bumper stickers. The relevant part of the psalm reads.

If anyone in the country sent a letter to the President with that message we would be arrested .

    • Never mind the apology, he should be kick out of office and investigated by the Secret Service. What he said is treason. You have this idiot in Kansas, and then you have the Attorney General in Georgia, who is a birther, trying to remove Obama's name from the ballot in Georgia. What is wrong with the people?

    • Apparently, the President isn't pursuing the ciminality of it. Some things are just not supposed to be said and unless they have changed the laws, it still is law. What would it take to be considered a crime? Honestly, American President's have been killed in the past. Is there no line they won't cross? Maybe the line should be drawn uitizing the 'rule of law'.

Why does it take a site like this one for me to finally get news regarding my own damned state! I hate living where the media is this damned biased towards a political party! I hate living in a place where the religious use thier god as an excuse for any action regardless of how far askew from thier religion's true tenents they are! I hate living where hatred is the ruling power, making it that much harder for the people to out grow thier hatred and become actualized humans.

This man's actions are reprehensible, sickening and maddening to all of us with even one ounce of common human dignity. I don't care what party he belongs or what church he attends, he is at this point no more then sentient (barely) slime oozing along the same glistening trail of effuse that his fellow hate mongers have been blazing thru the American political scene for far too long.

Our planet can no longer afford these politics. We the people can no longer afford to sit idly by why those who proffess to be our leaders dance thier same dance. It's time we replace ALL of our politicians with our neighbors, or fathers and mothers, our college proffessors and even our own children. We as people need to start rebuilding FAITH IN PEOPLE and that starts at home, with how we act towards others. No matter how much I or you may hate someone or something we must show that our human capacity for compassion is stronger then any hate. We must support those on the political arena that act with compassion and love, even if we have idealogical differences. There are good republicans out there, of this I have no doubt. But this man is NOT one of them, again of this I have no doubt.

    • Fetid cult like hatred. Those wishing such a thing should be cautious as to where all that ugly, negative energy ends up. These are Christian values?

    • It is something terribly wrong with the politicians who represent the Teabagger/Republican Party. The entire party is infested with vile politicians who have little or no respect for President Obama. There have been numerous occasions where some uncouth/uncivilized politician was forced to apologized to the president or his wife for some racist statement. If it wasn't the prevailing mindset of the party, these incidents wouldn't be tolerated. As common as these occurrences are, their supporters will deny that the party is racist.
