Matthews: Romney is ‘one of the bad guys’

Mitt Romney may have won the Florida Republican presidential primary, but Chris Matthews is still not a fan.

The MSNBC host argued on Tuesday that the candidate couldn’t connect with the American people because his wealth meant he did not have a “yearning to do better.”

“There’s nothing in this guys face, nothing in his background that suggests a yearning, an immigrant’s aspiration — if you will — for a better society,” Matthews ranted. “He’s got all he wants. His family has got all they want. They’ve gotten their take.”

“And by the way, when you spend your money — when you’re sheltering it overseas, when you’re hiding your money from the tax collector so that you can have an even fatter life, you know, you don’t really identify with the person out there that’s trying to scrabble along and make it in our society, who is a true patriot, left, right or center. Why are you hiding your money overseas if you are a patriot? It seems like you are part of the problem — in fact, you are one of the bad guys.”

He continued: “He has not identified with the revolutionary struggle of this country for its last 200 years. It is not anywhere in his bones, a revolutionary, anywhere in his bones, is he dissatisfied with the America he was born to — he was born to that weird small portion of America that had it happened to him. He says he didn’t inherit it, he inherited everything: his education, his status, governor, father head of an auto company. Everything about him basically happened to him.”

    • America would do well to bone up on its knowledge of the Mormon Church if even remotely considering Romney as a presidential candidate. Talk about a Trojan Horse...."Members of the LDS Church believe that their church is the "only true and living church upon the face of the earth"....and the implications of that fallacious belief are beginning to be played out in political arenas all across the US....there is a lot of information out there on Mormonism, and it would be a good idea for people to understand that this is NOT even the tea party's church, but I'm not sure the tea party realizes this either. Mormons are dead serious about what they believe and how they see the world divided.....

    • We had eight years of GWB pandering to the ultra rich and the crash of 2008 was the culmination of his polilcies. Just watch Fahrenheit 911 if you want to see how he addresses "his people". It doesn't matter if you're a Michael Moore fan or not, the words are straight out of Dubya's mouth. He fundamentally changed the way the American economy functioned and allowed mushrooms like Romney to sprout and flourish. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that Romney wouldn't revert back to the GWB adminstrations' policies if elected. Guys like Romney operate on a global scale and have very little allegiance to any country including our own, because they only answer to the bottom line. America would be in grave danger if he gets elected.

Fahrenheit 9/11 excerpt from Dubai can't believe those fools voted
against Peace & Prosperity for War & Depression..sneer.." I can. The
fools he was referring too had too little tolerance for a blow job, and too
much acceptance for self destruction. In 2000, the fools downgraded
themselves to lemmings. What annoys me is that they see a good man
like Dennis Kucinich, and ignore him for an unknown place holder for
the Bushes, Nobama-another Bush clone occupying the white house
as Bush's 3rd term in office. All this colossal manipulation is disgustingly
      dishonest.

    • Everything you didn't like about Obama times 100. Romney has no way of feeling your pain, and you have no way of deciphering where he is coming from because what he says conflicts with his own ideas.

    • I caught Chris Matthews tonight. He nailed it on the head. He also went on to say that Romney has offer no platform of what he would do if he was elected President. All he has been doing on the campaign trail is bash the President with lies and crucify good old Newt. Just what does Romney stand for except that "Corporations are people too", that "Banks are hurting too", etc. Next he'll be telling you that the 1% are hurting too. ERRRRRR! I am so sick of this election cycle and it hasn't even gotten out of the Primaries.

    • Of course he is. Any idiot who says about nearly $400,000.00 (which would take most of us decades to earn)......... "Then, I get speakers fees from time to time, but not very much."

Well, what can you say to an idiot like that..................................................................

    • I couldn't agree more! Chris nailed Romney to the wall! Romney is nothing but an empty suit. I think Romney is a robot for that matter. He's a 1%er. What does he know?

    • All I can say is Mr Romney has no idea what most people in this country struggle with on a daily basis. I am not saying I am a better American than him, but have him take a walk in my shoes a Veterans wife, a Veterans mother 2X, A woman not born into wealth. I am sick and tired of all the phoney bullshit from the rich. I am not saying all rich people are greedy and full of shit, I would just like to see someone who has walked in my shoes making decision for the masses for a fuc---- change!!!!
      Sorry for the rant. :(
      Peace
