Monckton's push for an Australian Fox News

LivingPong
Back in July last year in a boardroom of a western Australian free-market think tank, the extrovert British climate change sceptic Lord Christopher Monckton was holding court.

The topic for discussion? How to better capture the Australian media to help push a right-wing, free-market and climate sceptic agenda.

At the time, Lord Monckton was in Australia at the behest of a mining association to deliver a series of talks on climate change and spread his conspiracy theories that human-caused climate change is a left-wing plot to bring down the West.

At one point during the tour, Monckton told a boisterous partisan crowd:

"So to the bogus scientists who have produced the bogus science that invented this bogus scare I say, we are coming after you. We are going to prosecute you, and we are going to lock you up."

      Who calls people Nazis...

because he is bought and paid for by the coal industry. He actually sat at a "debate" in Australia and told the opposing politician to stop his plan to sequester CO2 in soil and plant trees and that we need to do nothing. Against planting trees? That's just NUTS. This just shows a blatant disregard for science, agriculture, biodiversity and health. He must be living good in his mansion paid for by coal magnates. And he dares to attack Al Gore and REAL scientists and expect a debate? He's a JOKE. And those against doing anything, you wiill spend more in disaster relief as a result of it as your agriculture suffers forcing up food prices and healthcare costs while you let the polluters off the hook and blame the wrong people. Try not to complain too loudly about that.

      from link above:

"Credibility or no credibility (given his lack of science qualifications, it is most likely the latter), the Nazi slur hasn't discouraged Lord Monckton's backers. At least part of Lord Monckton's trip is being paid for by the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies, which has distanced itself from the comments but confirms he will still speak at it's annual convention on 30 June in Perth. Opposition and Liberal Party leader Tony Abbott, who has questioned the seriousness of human-caused climate change, is scheduled to open the convention.

Lord Monckton also toured Australia in early 2010, when it was revealed that mining magnate Gina Rinehart had donated funds and a member of staff to help co-ordinate the trip.

Ms Rinehart, chairman of Hancock Prospecting, was recently crowned as Australia's wealthiest individual with recent analysis suggesting she could soon become the richest individual on the planet. As the sole owner and chairman of the iron ore and coal mining company (a position inherited from her father Lang Hancock), Ms Rinehart is estimated to be worth more than US$10 billion.

Earlier this month, it was revealed in The Age newspaper that Ms Hancock had flown at least two members of Parliament to India on her private jet to attend the wedding of a member of the Reddy family. Ms Rinehart is reportedly hoping to secure a $2 billion deal with the Reddy's to purchase a stake in her coal mines.

After Lord Monckton's appearance at the mining conference, he will go on to deliver the "Lang Hancock Lecture" at the University of Notre Dame, near Perth, thanks to sponsorship from Hancock Prospecting. Then it's off for a dozen or so public talks, with tickets on sale from $25 to $60 each.

Presumably the Nazi slide will be left back at Lord Monckton's Scottish mansion, although at least one venue - a German Club in Adelaide in South Australia - is now understandably reticent, reports AdelaideNow.

Invoking Godwin's Law of Nazi Analogies is something of an area of expertise for Lord Monckton.

In 2009 at the UN climate conference in Copenhagen, he described one group of young climate change campaigners as the "Hitler Youth".

Interviewed through the shaky camera hand of DeSmogBlog's own Brendan DeMelle, Lord Monckton calmly explained: "The number of people being killed by this misplaced belief in climate change is if anything greater than the number of people killed by Hitler."

Oh Lordy. Strap yourself in, Australia."

      Typical extremist ad-hominem crap.
As I stated below, at least he has the guts to stand up to criticism and address attacks publically. Gore, on the other hand, prefers to preach to kids and answers no questions. Hardly credible, eh?
Australians aren't easily sucked in by lies and propaganda, just watch what happens to Gillard at the next election. She blatantly lied about the carbon tax and she'll pay the price.

‘’There will be no carbon tax under the government I lead.” - Julia Gillard 16 August 2010

One also has to ask the question; had Monckton been visually appealing to JanforGore, would we now be debating Global Cooling with JanforMonckton?

    • It makes sense since Australia is the only country so far that was stupid enough to go along with a global warming tax.

But global warming skeptism is a bi-partisan issue.

...lol...Parliament resumes today after holidays...don't know if you've ever seen one of our "question time" sittings...the crap will be flying from left to right...I'll give "Her" 5 mins on the floor, and when "She" doesn't like the tone, she just gets up and walks out...no worries, only 12 and a bit more months and it will be the biggest "dump" in history...

At least Monckton debates openly, and publically responds to his critics. Some, like the highly discredited failure, Gore, won't even allow journalists into his indoctrination sessions, and is incapable of answering questions - he doesn't have the answers. Hmmm... sort of reminds me of someone here...
