Komen VP resigns; an important first step, but a long road to reconciliation remains | Scholars and Rogues

It’s hard to say at this point what the motivation is for Handel’s exit. Maybe the board is looking at the numbers and concluding that it still hasn’t done enough to assuage the anger of its donor base, and in this case it needs a scapegoat. Or maybe Handel is taking more personal heat than she’s comfortable with and just said to hell with it.

However, what isn’t happening is a substantive reversal on the part of the Komen organization. That social conservative board, in bed with the repugnant, fork-tongued Fleischer, has not decided that it was wrong. Whatever is going on today is designed to distract the public so that they can find another means of enacting their cynical agenda.

    • Komen had withdrawn funds for breast cancer screening previously granted to Planned Parenthood due to eligibility issues with the giving of the money. This was not an abortion issue. It is reprehensible that PP and its supporters turned this into something it wasn't. Breast cancer is a terrrible disease and Komen deserves all the support it can get in combating this. What this really is is a liberal attack on an organization that withdrew funds from an abortion providerdue to factors not involving abortions. However, since abortion or, pro choice, is sancrosanct in liberal circles the war was on. It seems that pro choice does not extend to Komen in the decision making process as to who to fund. Even if abortion WAS the issue, Koman has the "choice" whether or not to keep sending the money. This is not about "choice" or "womans reproductive rights" it is about ideology.
I began today calling all my representatives on the Hill and ask them to withdraw any public taxpayer funds from PP. This will continue. Not because of the issue of abortion but because what the left attempted to do to Komen.
