Banks Backing GOP Attempt To Suppress MN Votes

letsliveinpeace
TakeAction Minnesota says bank executives from Wells Fargo, US Bank and TCF Bank are funneling money to Republican legislative candidates to secure a photo ID amendment on the state?s November 2012 ballot. Executive Director Dan McGrath gives examples of how the money flows from the bank executives through various organizations to the candidates. McGrath says banks may have a broader agenda than voter photo ID, but they need to realize that is what they are funding.

    • Smoke and mirrors. . . How it is that legitimate identification for the purpose of identifying registered voters at the polls is restricting or inhibiting fair and honest elections?

    • More restrictive voter ID requirements are clearly proposed by the GOP for the GOP benefit. Justification is always to eliminate voter fraud when no voter fraud has been shown, much less proven. It's a crime. Where are the indictments? Convictions? Oh yeah, there is that Indiana ex-Sec. of State, Charlie White. Yep. GOP guy.
It would seem that if the GOP wants to stop voter fraud they'd just stop perpetrating it.

    • I not surprised. None of the Fortune 500 Companies want regulations and they will do everything in their power to gain control again. A good way to do that is to suppress voters that don't fall for their lies or who will vote for the GOP. It's time to stop them in their tracks before you lose all your rights.

Remember the poem from Martin Niemoller:

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out -- Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out -- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out -- Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me."

Sound familiar? This is almost a parallel to what is happening in the States today. But instead of the Nazi, its the Oligarch with the help of the GOP that are doing to same thing. So speak out now before there is no one left to speak for you.

    • Republicans----When you play with fire; you get burned. You'd be wise not to put your hand on a hot stove.

The first systematic attempt to limit voting for political advantage dates back to 1798 and is popularly called the Alien and Sedition Acts. It is a series of four bills. The first, passed in June 1798 increased the period of time for naturalization (hence the ability to vote) from 7 years to 14 years. New citizens overwhelmingly favored Jefferson over Adams. Adams won power in an extremely tight election in 1796 and he wanted no more voters added to the mix. He also added power to deport US citizens and to arrest editors and others opposed to his views or those of his political party.

    • Suppress the ballots, inspire the bullets. People are going to have their political say one way or the other. That's the American way (see Intolerable Acts).
