    • I can not help but wonder what kind of mother would pick up her sick child at school, take her on a shopping trip rather than home to bed, and then leave her alone to amuse herself while she shops!! I hope mom has learned something from this experience!!

    • Wow, that kidnapper does not know anything about snatching kids! You don't do it in Walmart! Bad form, kidnapper, bad form!

Thank goodness he was an idiot and that girl was a screamer and a kicker.

    • Brave little girl and I'm glad she is safe. Every parent and child should view this video. This is a different world than the one I grew up in, that's for sure.

    • I'm glad she is safe, that sort of thing a parent's worst nightmare.

On a side note, the feigned emotion and the ever-so-typical news tone of the reporters was surreal to me. It's like they are automatons disconnected from true human emotion. The very same disconnected reactions would be applied to a story about a kitten stuck in a tree. Anyone else put off by that? Maybe it's just me. Here's Tom with the Weather.

    • Makes you want to put your kids in body armor and be sure they are escorted by trained war dogs at all times.

      Good girl ! +^d

    • the world is a different place than it was when I was a kid....used to wander for miles as a kid with parents at work until 7 and be back in time to have dinner ready for all.

    • I've worked in a Cyberstation arcade and a GameStop. Parents left their children there pretty much all the time. I'm not a babysitter. If the child ran out of the store I couldn't stop them, at least that's what my bosses would tell me. I have called security numerous times when parents would be gone for hours at a time. During my employment, there was never an attempted kidnapping. Thank Jebus for that.

And now, back on the subject. I'm so glad that the girl fought back. I hope the parents take the seriousness of the situation to heart and keep their kid close to them. I understand kids wander off, but this wasn't the case. Just gotta try and keep a constant vigil.

Well, that might not be "scared",.....but it IS a tad, uhm,....'withdrawn' ?

      'isolated' ?

Not criticizing a defensive posture mind you ; when, even SOME of them, really ARE out to get you,....."paranoia" is not a fair charge.

Hmmmm,....,somewhat 'retreatist' ; not a word previously coined,....but that would be my critique.

Get the hell out of the city, get your children firearms, train them , and put up signs along the sturdy barbed wire ramparts declaring ; "TRESPASSERS,.....My KIDS will BLOW YOU AWAY" !

You might have to help the kinder to do some digging/dragging to make the bodies "disappear" .

p.s +^d for "spirit and intent and good nesting habits and family values"

    • Yes, teach your children to fight back.

Also, teach your children that not all strangers are perverts that want to kidnap them. Being wary of people they don't know and cautious is the best defense.

      So true.

Children are also naturally curious and can easily wander off to another aisle (it can happen so quickly) --- putting them at further risk to strangers who may want to harm them -- when they're *suddenly* out of sight. So, it's up the parent(s) to maintain a constant eye on them, as well. Sometimes challenging but always necessary.

It's a relief to know she was able to "scare him off" by fighting back and that he was arrested shortly, thereafter. Thank goodness this incident had a happy ending for Brittney Baxter and her family.

I will be sharing this video with all parents I know. Hopefully, this video will go viral and help bring an *awareness level* to everyone of how quickly this can happen to any child anywhere at anytime.

Thanks to llip for sharing this story with us.

      Very true.

Along some different lines was one time I was in Costco and a little girl -maybe 2 yrs. old was in a shopping cart with her mom and dad. We looked at each other and she waved at me and I waved back with a smile. After we passed my wife asked what I did. I told her and asked why? She said the father had shot me a dirty look. It really saddened me to the point I wrote an OpEd piece to the paper explaining that society should always safeguard children, teach them to protect themselves and be wary of strangers but to also teach children that there are far more decent caring people in the world than those who want to hurt them.

Very important or we turn into what we hate.

    • These perverts are lurking everywhere. Every parent should play this video for their children as an example of what they can do to save themselves. Thank heaven he was caught before he could try it again.
