We live in a militarized state, and our police are treating the public the same way that our troops treat the civilians in the countries we are occupying, like Iraq and Afghanistan.

As a diabetic, I know that when you "crash" it comes on fast and you can only hope that you can reach some glucose in time. Otherwise your actions become uncoordinated and you appear drunk. This guy probably did not pull over when directed and seemed to be trying to alude the police, when in fact he was in auto mode trying to get home. Police are too quick to draw weapons, and violence like the cop that kicked this individual is not only unnecessary, but criminal. This guy should be sued and removed from the force.
Insurance companies should be providing, as part of their coverage, free medical ID bracelets and wallet cards with patient information that identifies possible problems. If a diabetic has a high blood sugar content their breath will also smell like alcohol.

Excellent post!
It is true that police departments prefer hireing ex-military because they are already trained for combat. Since to techniques that the police employs are the same as what the military employs they are a natural shoe-in. So one would think that they would at least do a strict mental evaluation, right???
Nope, they hire the vets for one reason and one reason only, because of their tours of duty beating the shit out of people is normal and part of the job. This way law enforcement upholds the image of being "Tough On Crime".

I live in Henderson and have tried applying to this PD, but keep hearing the same BS "we have no openings at this time", there should be at least 4 just because of this video. I guess I'm not the right skin color for the good 'ol boy network around here.

Militaty veterans should not be allowed to become peace officers...they are trained to kill and do not go through any type of real mental decompression and re-entry programs after they return to civilian life...They have no place in our local police departments any more than the CIA and other covert inelligence groups have any right in domestic law enforement on any level...
This is savage behavior and guranteed nothing substantial will be done about it...

You are completely wrong. I am a military veteran having served 4 tours and I am completely fine. I am more relaxed than most civilians because of my training. Like I said in my post I have tried applying to this PD and all I am told is that there are no openings. If I am ever able to get on this would never happen while I'm around because I am not a sick sadistic human being like these idiots are. Like you generalized all us veterans I am going to generalize your comment. Maybe civilians who have never served shouldn't open their big mouths about something they know nothing about. Mmm k?

Rudeboy84:
Well, I am glad to hear that you are "...a military veteran having served 4 tours..." and that you are "...completely fine." You are an American hero and I applaud your service just as I do every American hero who puts on the uniform and goes to fight for what they believe are all the right reasons.
However, and someone with your extensive service record fully understands this: There are huge numbers of returning vets especially from the Middle East who are not as fortunate as you. With suicide rates as high as 18 a day, literally tens of thousands of returning heros with PTSD and related psychological disorders, with the divorce rate among returning vets going through the rood etc. etc. there is reason behind what I stated.
By no means do I condemn everyone who ever served as unfit for civilian police service, but with the untold thousands of vets who have not sought help, who the VA and other mental health agencies have not even identified there is serious reason to pause. This is especially true with a system that denies and then takes years to respond to the real mental health issues of our veterans. We still have Vietnam War vets whose problems were denied by the VA and the millitary for years who make up a serious portion of the homeless population in this country.
I'm sorry if you are personally offended by my remarks, but you know damn well that if you served 4 terms and you are "...completely fine..." you are an exception and I am happy for you. My point was not one of condemnation of veterans, but a signal for caution as our police departments are becoming more and more militarized and more and more willing and able show military force in denying Americans first ammendment rights and the right to the presumption of innocence etc. It does not take a psychiatrist/psychologist to see that some of the behavior exhibited by police personnel is out of control anger or worse.
Perhaps you should look a little more objectively at the problem this country is facing with its militarized police forces and stop trying to defend a fucked up system.

I agree with you that PD should use caution in their selecting of veterans to the force because of the issues that come along with serving overseas, however most of the "peace" officers that commit these types of actions are not former military. There is a huge problem here in Las Vegas with police officers shooting or beating first then asking questions later, and from all the reports that I have read and investigated myself over 90 percent are not former military. They are just power-high joe blows who loosely interpret what their roles are in the community.
I have at least 4 officers that live in the same apartment complex as I and that work for the PD in the video and they have said that only a small fraction, less that 10 percent, is former military because the freeze to many PD's came during the economic collapse in 2008 while many veterans were still being deployed and redeployed. That is just my take on it, however I have been collecting data from most incidents and the majority that commit acts like these are not former military.Just as a side note

I stand corrected then...It has been my understanding and evidently wrong that PDs were actively recruiting vets and expanding departments using the funds (same as those providing military equipment to PDs) being funneled from CIA and other fed. agencies since 9/11. I will do some more research on this. Thanks for the information.

I watched this video before I went to work this morning! Thanks for posting this, llip. The way these cops handled this is disgusting! First, the one cop put his foot on the driver's side window. Then they all dragged this man out of the car and began kicking him while he was on the ground. They were't even sure if he was driving drunk. I thought the first thing they do is a sobriety test....not beat the shit out of someone. Then they found out he was a diabetic and in diabetic shock. This man could have easily died. They found his insulin and laughed. Asking if anyone was hurt. Like this mistake was a big joke and could've given a rat's ass if the victim was alright. What a bunch of thugs. This is what we now have for police. Serve and protect my ass!

Leen61... I agree with you wholeheartedly thanks for your post...
In watching this video I expected soldiers to come stomping through the door at any moment. These cops action is clearly an example of good cops bad cops. These bastards had the nerve to be concerned about each other, did anyone see these cops get hurt at any time viewing this video? Not one of them concerned about the man on the ground, with broken bones. Suffering from a diabetic attack, that could have taken his life. They've kick and stomp him almost to death. And of course none were charged with the crime that's on this video. It appears that this man didn't receive justice. This shit is going on all over our country with these cops, give me the Siberian chills. - 4 months ago

How many times did the one cop ask the other four cops if they were hurt? We wouldn't want a broken nail on anyone after they all beat a semi-conscious man. Next up? Let's find a little girl we can beat!

Police "Beat" Man for $300,000
This fool Adam Greene let Nevada Police Beat him for $300,000 because he was in a Diabetic Shock -- Adam Greene, 38, settled his lawsuit against the City of Henderson and the state of Nevada on Tuesday night. Per the terms of the settlement, Greene will receive $158,000 from the city and $35,000 from the state. Greene's wife will receive an additional $99,000 from the City of Henderson. The $292,500 payout settles a federal civil rights lawsuit Greene filed against Henderson police and the Nevada Highway Patrol. The suit accused the agencies of battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
"We think it's fair; we agreed to it and we're satisfied," Greene told KTNV about the settlement.
The lawsuit stemmed from a traffic stop that occurred on Oct. 29, 2010. Portions of the incident were captured by dashboard cameras mounted in four Nevada Highway Patrol cruisers

"This fool Adam Greene let Nevada Police Beat him....."
I don't know how much you know about hypoglycemia but it is really no joke. It can kill you in a very short period as opposed to DKA which can take hours. I have seen hypoglycemic patients present as a stroke to slightly altered. I have treated them with glucose levels in the 30's where they are very combative but will apologize afterward and ask if they were a problem. I have had them be completely non-responsive and drooling on their shirt. They will suddenly pass out at the dinner table, on the street, behind the wheel, working out......anywhere. Presentation depends on the incividual and the sugar level. The lowest I have seen is 11, the highest at 1290. If Greene was very hypoglycemic there probably was absolutely nothing he could have done about it. He could not have responded, could have fought depending on the sugar level and how he reacts to it but I saw the video- he did nothing to bring this on. Police action in this case was unpardonable. The one bright spot was where one of the officers thought to call medics due to possible hypoglycemia. An amp of D50, IVP would have fixed him right up. We call it "Jesus in a jar" as people will sometimes come back to normal while we are still pushing the sugar. If not, it is seconds later. Diabetes is bad stuff. Law enforcement needs to be more aware of this and not so quick to react in this manner.

Law enforcement be aware? AS SOON AS THEY FOUND OUT HE WAS A DIABETIC IT SHOULD HAVE STOPPED!!!! It's not retraining they need, it's replacement. Laughing about what happened is one of the most cold-blooded things I've hear. You're absolutely right this man could have died. When I was working EMS I saw a few things myself, and diabetics were always a concern. The worst thing I saw was when we were called to a boarding house and the "attendant" gave a patient her insulin all day even though she ate nothing all day, and at 2:30 am she was in dire shape. 3 tubes of instant glucose and real quick trip to the E.R. I hope the "attendant" was charged with reckless endangerment, but never heard anything.
