His latest budget proposal will grow the government even more than he has in the past three years as he continues to spend and spend. Don't forget the 800 million he wants to send to the Arab Spring countries. If Congress has any sense of responsibility they will take this apart and cut, cut and cut some more.

What about all of the money that was stolen from me when I was a child?
I mean, they had a debt in the 80s. ...I turned out alright. Also, it's convenient to point the finger at someone and say that they're spending too much, when you continually cut spending to the necessities and fail to increase taxes.

@ 3:34 - ohhh let's not explain the details of that inconvenient 1/5th of the whole budget ... someone might notice that welfare and food stamps combined cost us less than farm subsidies.
Seriously mr. whittle, have you considered that the lion's share of the dollars on the receiving end of the wealth redistribution machine aren't going to the poor?

Get rid of them both, what, farm subsidies and the poor? The only thing the U.S. has to get rid of in order to get back on track is Republicans.

Let's get rid of all politicians, that will solve our national debt even faster. We're $15 trillion in debt and counting, everything has to be cut, everything.

JohnA:
You can't cut everything. A country with no politicians is Somalia. You have to raise tax revenue. The reason you are in such fiscal trouble is you don't pay any taxes. Only 24% to G.D.P. and only Mexico and Chile pay less. If you want to pay a tax rate like a third world country then you get to be a third world country.

JohnA:
Nobody in the United States pays 53% in taxes. No one. Americans are lied to about their high taxes and for some reason they believe it. Get out last years tax return and look at it. I guarantee you, that you did not pay 53% in taxes. The six tax rates are, 10% up to $8,500, 15% up to $34,500, 25% up to $85,000, 28% up to $174,000, 33% up to $379,000 and 35% for over $379,000. The highest sales tax rate in the the U.S. is 11.5% and the average is around 8.5%. Most essential goods are sales tax exempt. The average income tax at the state level is 6.7%. Your tax rate to G.D.P. is 24% and that is taxation at a third world level and that is why you are in fiscal trouble. 28% for someone making $175,000 a year and you wonder why you can't get anything done? Canadians pay 31% of G.D.P. in taxes and a combined goods and services tax of 15% and that is one of the big reasons we have a strong safety net system and absolutely none of your socioeconomic problems.

JohnA:
Of course I misunderstood you. I did not think you were going to argue my point that Americans don't pay enough in taxes by telling me half of Americans don't pay taxes. Half of the households exempt from federal taxes make less than $16,000 a year. That means at least 25% of the U.S. population is already living third world. They are what is known by Wall Street as "Lucky Duckies" of all things. After personal deductions and accounting for their 10% tax rate, there isn't much there to take. 61% of all exempts households make less than $20,000 a year. 16.3% is what they pay in state, local, sales and payroll taxes. A larger percentage than the 1% like Mitt Romney pays on thousands of dollars a day in income. $30,000 a year for a family of four is what the Census Bureau says is the poverty level. 87% of exempted households make less than $40,000 a year. This would indicate that almost half of the entire U.S. population is already living at, or near to, the poverty level. Sounds like the U.S. is well on it's way to becoming a third world country. And I know what a lot of Americans say. Don't tax the rich more just because they are successful and have the money. Tax the poor more because they don't have the money. At least I think that's what they mean. Maybe they mean cut all government programs and don't tax anybody at all and the U.S. will somehow be a paradise. Have you ever heard the term H.I.N.T.? That's means High Income No Taxes. They make up the other 3% of the exempted households. 3% 0f 50% is about 1.5%. Awfully close to that 1% that the 99% have a problem with, don't you think?

JohnA:
Okay JohnA. Your Government takes in tax revenue like a third world country but instead of fixing that, your solution is to get rid of programs or just eliminate government altogether. Well good luck with that. How is it that some Americans will not recognize that just a little more than ten years ago you had a budget surplus, and that all went to hell by lowering taxes, lying the country into a war that was unpaid for and deregulating banks? Now you want to pay for these things by eliminating the government, who does the regulating, and killing programs that you yourself may one day depend on. How many accountants will a broke, poverty stricken country need?

Canada. A place that pays 31% taxes to G.D.P., 15% in combined goods and service taxes and has surpluses in all our safety net programs. I should also point out that I never hear a Canadian complain about it. All we have to do is look south and see what a low tax rate will do to a country.

JohnA:
You spend more on defense than the next 15 countries combined because you want to. Do you think that has anything to do with why your going down the drain? We don't depend on you for a damn thing. Defense included. Only ten countries spend more per capita on defense than we do. And your welcome, our troops were the first into Kandahar, not yours. And your welcome, Vancouver Heavy Urban Rescue was the first into New Orleans after Katrina, not you. And thank you, the only two conflicts that we have not stood side by side with you in have been Vietnam and Iraq. I wonder what our leaders new about those two fiascoes? Our government has been rated as the fourth most effective on the planet. To a political junkie like me, a government run so damned well is boring. And as far as minding my own business goes, I have received lots of thanks from the people who communicate on this site for my input. Current thanked me for my overwhelmingly well received comments. So I think I will continue to make comments whether you like it or not.

Then don't you think cutting the ridiculous amount of tax dollars spent on defense in the U.S. (45% of what the entire world spends) would serve you better than cutting the programs that actually serve the American public?

Goodness Revelation! Who has time to worry about a mere 150 mill/hr when your criminally corrupt and militant corporate right is stealing billions per hour from the people. You know what they say, don't sweat the small stuff. Worry about the big stuff, the billions and trillions per hour that your employers are stealing.

Any economist will tell you that you don't cut spending when you are trying to recover from the biggest recession since the great depression. If he allows the Bush tax cuts to expire for the wealthiest in America, you will start lowering that debt. Beside, the $1.15 trillion has already been spend and most of it is from the Bush Administration.
When Obama took office the deficit was already over $1 trillion dollars. So it your going to divide it per capita, start with what Bush spent without a peep from the 'right'. When Bush took office the government had a surplus. But, it's okay when the GOP spent like drunken sailors on two wars and Medicare Part D. But squawk to your hearts content because Obama is spending money to stimulate the economy. But don't let the facts get in the away of more spin coming from the 'right'.
Beside, his budget offers short-term stimulus to keep the economy growing, while at the same time offers deficit reduction after the country is back on it's feet.

When Bush took office he said he did not like budget surpluses because "it encouraged the government to spend money". So he gave that surplus to the rich in tax cuts in order to, as he put it, "starve the beast". Well, now the country is starving for revenue and these mindless Conservative voters are blaming Obama. Man, is there anything more stupid than a Republican voter?

I think most who vote for the GOP are low information voters that believe everything that comes out of the 'right-wing' media like FOX News. All they keep hearing is Reagan's quote that 'the government is the problem'.
This take over by the GOP has been building since Reagan was in office. When it slowly sneaks up on you, you don't realize it's happening until it's too late. I just hope this year enough people have woken up and will stop them before it is too late.

Maybe taxing the rich at a reasonable rate would solve that problem. Only two countries, Mexico and Chile, have a lower tax to G.D.P. rate than the United States, and somehow it's Obama's fault that you can't pay your bills. Every fiscal problem you have is because the Republicans exist.
