GOP determined to end access to contraception

DeepBrainMedia
“Women’s vote? We don’t need no women’s vote!” That’s what the GOP leadership in Congress seems to be saying with this boneheaded push of theirs to allow all employers to deny contraception in their health insurance plans.

Legislation sponsored by Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) would allow any employer to deny birth control coverage to any employee for any reason. The GOP leadership will move forward with the legislation, despite the fact that a vast majority of Americans, especially women, support the right to contraception.

“If we end up having to try to overcome the President’s opposition by legislation, of course I’d be happy to support it, and intend to support it,” Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell said. “We’ll be voting on that in the Senate and you can anticipate that that would happen as soon as possible.”
