US welcomes Iran's offer to resume nuclear talks

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has welcomed Iran's willingness to resume negotiations on the nation's nuclear program, calling it an important step.

Clinton spoke to reporters in Washington on Friday after a meeting with European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.

The 2 discussed a letter sent by Iran on Wednesday to Ashton expressing its willingness to resume nuclear talks with 6 other countries. The talks have been stalled since January of last year.

Clinton at the same time said resumption of negotiations would require sustained effort by Iran to address its nuclear program.

She urged Iran to provide information about its uranium enrichment and abide by the UN resolution calling for an immediate halt to such activities.

Earlier this week, Iran announced major advances in its nuclear program, saying it has succeeded in creating its first nuclear fuel rods and its new advanced centrifuges have increased uranium enrichment capacity.

The US government has called the announcement an exaggeration.

    • Yeah, we welcome your offer to have talks as long as our list of demands is met ahead of any such meeting...after all we want to be fair...more disgusting posturing...there are no longer any sovereign nations other than those we declare to be so...

    • You know.....I can't help but think, with the many people who have spoken out about red flag operations, and the evidence of past U.S involvement with these tactics...could they be a bit weary about going this route ?
War with Iran is definitely on their agenda, but are they having second thoughts about how to bring it on ? Maybe the deceit of 9 11 is finally biting them in the ass!

once upon a time you could handle two people viewing your position as disgusting, but i guess these days with so few people willing to engage you, just so sick of your disgusting vitrol and hatred, two is the standard for a grand conspiracy huh?

so 2 are the mafia, what is three a militia?
      4 a military power?

As usual, the ever-enlightening freecrack let's all give him a hand ladies and gentlemen.

Everyone is entitled to their opnion of ME.

Personally I would prefer to discuss the issues at hand, which is unfortunately, is Israel and their Jewish front groups here in the US such as the American Israel Political Action Commitee (AIPAC I know it's really called "public affairs commitee") and others are trying to start another mass murder campaign.

But let's ignore all that and focus on me instead.

being as their is no mass murder campaign under way, it does make this all about you, and your insanity in particular.

or did i miss the part where iranians were living in mass at nuclear facilities.as those are the targets in question.

btw how does resuming talks equate to murder campaign exactly?
you do know you cant talk some one to death right?

    • I hope they do find a solution. I also wish the GOP would quiet down their rhetoric about bombing Iran. This chest pumping does not help. Let the Obama Administration handle this very delicate situation.

war does suck, but what if chaimberlin instead of letting the nazis expand, stopped them.how many lives would have been saved?
do you think dropping the bomb saved more lives than it cost?
what would be better, a few thousand dead today in a war with iran, or a few million dead tomorrow from a dirty bomb?

Rationalizing (secretly cheerleading) for war, using WWII as the point of focus but that's to be expected from a hardcore Zionist.

And then later when the war turns out to be another gigantic fraud like Iraq, he will say that he was against it all along.

i thought these petty personal attacks were the antithesis of what you want.you want to discuss the issues, not attack people personaly.
so why so prone to doing it?

so once again, as always, who is talking realisticaly about war again?
or are we going to go back to arguing over the difference between a bombing raid and war?

nice theory, except that two literal real world examples test it and prove the exact opposite to be true.
or did i miss the american soldiers that had boots on the ground as you say when israel took out syrias nukes and iraq's nukes?

um i have never been a zionist.you have assumed and erroniously claimed as much all along, but i have never been a zionist.

yup, and those invasions had absolutely nothing to do with israel either time, or nuclear weapon facilities being destroyed.

hence the bullshit of the day in 2003 having to be wmd's as the nuke option was not possible, being that israel on her own, with no troops from anyone else us included, took out saddams attempts at having nukes in the 80's.

so yes, still, israel has twice adressed arab nations seeking to develope nukes by themselves, without out troops, making your position tested, and proven wrong.

unless you would like to list the military units we sent to assist israel in the 80's when they were bombing saddams nuclear facilities?

A centrifuge for isolating uranium capable of producing fuel rods is a hell of a lot simpler than producing weapons grade material, hence why the fear of a dirty bomb is all that governments have to scare us all with.

The likelihood of Iran's government actually backing the use of a dirty bomb is very unlikely. For one it would immediately result in many tactical strikes being launched against Iran from a number of countries and the loss of support from both Russia and China who would both ill afford to continue to back a regime which would start a regional war using radioactive material. Such action would quickly destroy most of Iran's economy and set their development back decades.

Resources, the control of shipping and access to key distribution points is what the wrangling is over. Iran is situated strategically in the middle of some the largest fossil energy reserves in the world. It is also a very large country which pipelines and other delivery methods must navigate. A number of large multi-nationals and other nations would rather run their pipelines straight through Iran and probably don't plan on paying any tariffs to do it. And all the political shenanigans plus years of western countries pilfering their oil and destabilising their government.

The war against the Nazis was a lot different than the many other shady wars, funding and creation of terrorist organisations and overthrowing of legitimate governments by Western countries.

The Zionist thing is a bit rich. Politicians who are corrupt and devious exist in all persuasions of government. It always stems from land, money, resources or power. This is the real problem and grouping everyone as a Zionist overlooks the true rogues and all ows there true motives and actions to go unnoticed.

      how do you figure?
in both cases, oil would be truly the cheapest way for them to go, as it literaly comes out of the ground for them, and any nuclear materials they must purchase.

as far as dirty bombs go, how is anyone going to know it was from the iranian stock if they keep black marketing the material as opposed to being out right with it.they could put nukes in the hands of hizbollah, who drops them on jerusalem, claiming it was the israelis.by the time any testing gets done to identify the materials used, israel is already fighting off every nieghbor yet again, but this time with nukes being allowed.making pakistan a new element, and then india and so on.

and even then after all is said and done iran still as always gets to wash their hand clean, as the materials come back being north korean.as that is whos stuff they are working with.just like every russian made, and iranian distributed katusha lands randomly through out the world with iran never being held accountable for it, this is just another example.

the only tactical strikes that iran would suffer would be based on them being to blame for launching nukes.as long as they arent the ones launching them, they just like with all the other weapons they distribute, are not acknowledged in tactical terms.

your position on russia and china is assuming they are proactive when it comes to anything, when they are not.you are looking at them as if they are of the western mindset.when these are nations who take the path of fuck shit up first then learn to not do it again.
      chernobyl ring a bell?
did china concerne itself with destroying its own environment before or after they did so via industrialism?

yes israel did.and lord knows the international community doesnt drive that point home as often as humanly possible, despite no nation showing a desire to avoid using nukes as israel has.i mean cmon, the 6 day war pretty much settled that question.

the difference is israel is not a weapons distributer, no less a weapons distributor to guerilla groups, then or now.
nor does any part of israeli policy seek the destruction of anyone else

      making the dynamics completely different.
we know where israel's nukes come from, leaving no question about them.
this is not true with iran

the war against the nazis war entirely different, and im not trying to claim they are similar.

im just using the situation at hand.the one in which aquiesance to a militant regime resulted in greater tragedy then what would have happened if simply not tolerating them.
like going to war in rwanda or darfur would have killed a whole lot of people, but would have also stopped greater tragedies.

that is the point im working with

Contempt for crooked politicians and bureaucrats is not contempt for ones country. Unless you are unfortunate enough to fall victim to these crooks or see them in action, most people remain unaware or don't want to believe the extent of political corruption and shady dealings with unscrupulous businessmen.

"Such tactical manoeuvrings are a dangerous distraction and should not be tolerated," the Senators argue as cited by AFP."
