He had me in agreement up until he suggested we scale back our most potent deterrent. . . Think about this for a moment, if you will. . . Iran has unequivocally stated that it is their express purpose to wipe Israel (our ally) and its people off the face of the earth. . . and Kucinich, this so called member of the "enlightened" intelligentsia, thinks we should disarm?

Back in the late 50's, Eisenhower needed intelligence on the Soviet Union, so the U-2 was built. Flown by the USAF, but it's missions came from the CIA. This pissed off the Russians, and they shot one down, embarrassing the US. SO they built to SR-71, again flown by the USAF, controlled by the CIA, and it got too expensive to operate after so many years. Now we have drones, at first they were unarmed, and how much do you want to bet they were refitted to carry Hellfire missiles at the request of the CIA. The Army and the Air Force didn't need them, since they have much more effective platforms for their missions. The new Predators are flying with only one mission, murder, and one operator, the CIA. And now a new generation of UAV's is coming online, and I know that the CIA is dying to get their hands on them to fight their dirty little wars of aggression against the world. This program is causing extreme damage to our reputation, and I know the American public would unleash a shit storm of epic proportions if drones were flying over our country. We have NO, I repeat NO business doing these thing, and the people in the CIA doing it should be charged and convicted of violations of international law, reckless endangerment of civilians, and mass murder of Non-combatants. Somebody has to answer for this.

Exactly. No one would stand for having drones with missiles on them flying over their house. If another country flew drones over American houses people would go nuts.
Now those same people who complain should image how people in countries with drones flying over them feel. You can't ask people to accept your values and promote your ideals of how they should live and at the same time fly weapons of terror in their neighbourhoods and on occasion kill and maim their families. Iranians would be very fearful of being subjected to the conditions many in Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Pakistan find themselves in. This only harms American interests.
If you want to negotiate with another party you must act civilly to have any hope of getting anywhere. America can be a pretty intimidating in situations where diplomacy would be far more effective.

Ron Paul: Santorum is 'very liberal'
Ron Paul dinged rival Rick Santorum Monday for being a "very liberal" candidate, saying the former Pennsylvania senator and staunch social conservative voted for too much spending during his time in Congress.
Speaking to CNN Senior Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash before a campaign event with his son, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, the White House hopeful said his rival had taken positions counter to true conservative ideas.
"I mean, have you looked at his record? Go look at his record," Paul said.
He continued: "He spends too much money. He wasn't leading the charge to slash the budgets and vote against big government."
Rand Paul added that Santorum's vote history proved he wasn't a true conservative.

Vierochka, thank you for the link. I did listen to the interview and I do understand how this comment can be used by the left. American children have one of the worse public education in the world, our medicare system is a joke and no money in the world can help unless we fix the system. It is the same as throwing more money into the fire in hopes to stop it. Enough of "no child left behind" or any corrupt and ineffective program that uses federal money that is not spent to benefit our children or our senior citizens. I do not vote on the party line and I truly believe if we do not support the most fundamental human rights first and foremost nothing else will ever follow. I will only vote for the candidate who will stop invading countries and will bring human rights and liberties to American citizens here at home.

Dennis, really, are you kidding me? Stop the wars? That would stop the flow of public tax dollars into the bank accounts of the war industry, oil industry and the covert nation building industry; which translates into fewer dollars into the pockets of our thieving legislators. Tell me readers, is Dennis speaking in code telling US that if we don't get off our asses and start kicking Congressional asses, that we'll be loosing what's left of our asses as well as our assets?

Thanks, Rep Kucinich. At least there are some in Congress with the good sense to foresee and to address this. It lets the military/industrial complex know that we see what is going on and will stand up against it. We owe it to our children to be vigilant, especially based on past and present experiences. This also is a clear illustration of why we need to transition off of fossil fuels and aggressively seek the clean energy economy that will not only bring us a healthier cleaner planet, but a safer one.

Dennis Kucinich unfortunately has become a tin-foil hat conspiracy theorist and has become an embarrassment to the progressive left. Nobody is sick enough to want war. If it does happen, it is by accident and because the Iranians have gotten completely out of control and oppressive to their own people. Dennis should be suspended from the party so he has time to seek the appropriate medical help.

The same things were said about Dennis Kucinich when he was speaking up against the Iraq War. Unfortunately, he was right. The things he was saying and being called a 'tin-foil hat conspiracy theorist', before we started bombing Iraq have now been proven correct. But in this up is down, black is white, wrong is right world the Republicans have created. Dennis Kucinich's words proving to be true and their bad decisions proven to be wrong and Dennis Kucinich is the one who needs help?
Sorry Debra, but I strongly disagree. Our son's and daughter's and the Iraqi people paid the price for the Iraq war, while the Military Industrial Complex made large sums of money. I personally would rather be poor than see our son's and daughter's taken to another war of aggression. People are being spun into thinking things, which have yet to be proven true. Ordinary Americans are listening to the war rhetoric on MSM, which by the way is owned by many of the same people who also own the Military Industrial Complex.
Are people being spun with purpose?

Ha! Funny you should mention that. I was gonna throw that in too but thought it might overload certain circuits. I have it and have been through it several times, last just a few months ago. I give McNamara credit for being candid and, in the end, understanding it all. I view him as the ultimate military technician of his day. The first to truly approach war from an almost purely detached analytical perspective. Not a policy maker, just the enabler.
Kissinger, a believer in Realpolitik, in combination with Nixon, IMO a psycopath, was a devasting combination, creating policies that we still live with today. Exceptionalism, preemption, and disregard for the sovereingty of other nations originated with them and remain with us today. People were startled with Bush's "crimes against humanity" when they had actually been SOP for some 30 years. Obama is trapped with it. It's gonna a take us a least a decade to drag this thing back to somewhere left of Orwell. - 3 months ago

1) @ Vierotchka how can you see clearly that what he says is true but yet you still attack Ron Paul who is the only candidate who will not go to war with Iran?2) @warman Actually Iran is not very well industrialized and they have no capability to refine gasoline so if we cut them off they will be SOL.
3) Hmm This Kucinich guy really makes a lot of sense, who does he endorse? OH yeah he backs RON PAUL!
4) I know the Ron Paul haters are coming and I will say he is not a perfect candidate, but he is far and away the best choice when compared to the warmongers that are the alternative. Obama = Bush part 2

Thanks Viertochka
Ron Paul has a place in America, just not the White House, overseeing the needs of every American. Ron Paul is a Republican and would bring them to the table, while the rest of us starve.

If this happens any credibility President Obama has achieved with the progressives, (with his sudden resurgence of liberal "spirit"), will dissolve completely. He may pick up a few of the fickle "middle" crowd, but that war will be sending us a message, get in line or wind up in detention. It will give all the reactionaries an excuse to clamp down on dissent. Any concessions Obama hoped to win for the Palestinians, (from Israel), will also go out the window.

And the right-wingers still refuse to conceive of making the real substantive cuts that any sane society would make. These people who love to proclaim themselves "fiscal conservatives". These endless imperialist bases all over the world need to be seriously CUT back. The military-industrial-contractors need to be seriously CUT back!

This whole pretense that Iran wants to develop nuclear weapons is just smoke and mirrors, the real motivation is Iran's vast reserves of sweet crude.
