Santorum: The Democratic Party Is About ‘Homosexuality’

During a 2008 “Press & People of Faith in Politics” forum, Rick Santorum described to the Democratic Party as “the party of Woodstock,” and accused lawmakers of “prey[ing] upon our most basic primal lusts.” Asked to name a couple of words he’d heard attached to religion and politics in his years in the Senate, Santorum listed “moderate,” “ultra-conservative,” “liberal,” and “zealous” before launching into a full-on tirade against Democrats:

“Woodstock is the great American orgy. This is who the Democratic Party has become. They have become the party of Woodstock. The prey upon our most basic primal lusts, and that’s sex. And the whole abortion culture, it’s not about life. It’s about sexual freedom. That’s what it’s about. Homosexuality. It’s about sexual freedom.”

Of course Santorum will position Republicans as the “anti-homosexuality” party if he wins the nomination and has pledged to annul all same-sex marriages and personally campaign in every state against marriage equality.

    • Someone should remind Doggieman that there are more re_Pigs caught in illicit sexual affairs than there are Democrats. A large percentage of these are gay affairs as well. So Ricky what's going on in YOUR closet?

    • What a contemptuous little prick. Do the American people really want to elect a Pope in Chief to lecture us on morality from the bully pulpit each and every day.
      I hope not.

    • Haha here's a tweet from Bill Maher yesterday:

"Franklin Graham's got everyone talking religion today but Rick Santorum never loses focus from what's always on his mind...men fucking."

    • If this is the way you ass-wipe republicans want it, then OK by me. But be forwarned right now that the first asshole that knocks on my door and requires me as a gay person to register with anyone will be met with the biggest butcher knife in my kitchen right between his eyeballs. You think I'm kidding? Make my motherfucking day. Republicanism is a disease that needs to be stamped out and I'll be more then happy to help the cause.

    • the democrats are the party of civil liberties, which is ironic being that the religious right should be the ones to champion that.
so whom ever is not granted civil liberties is who the democrats will advocate for.

attack the blondes, and the democrats will be the party of the blondes.
but you attack the gays, making it the gays the democrats have to defend fronm your bullshit.

    • I had something to add here but since Digby's already nailed it.....

"This is a man who is absolutely terrified that someone, somewhere, might be having more fun and staying truer to themselves than he is. And he's bound and determined to stop it. He desperately needs a good psychiatrist to talk through whatever repressed, latent urges he's feeling and bring them out in a more healthy way."

"Something is really, really wrong with these people. Not just the politicians, but their supporters, too."

      Yep.

    • At this point, I don't give a flying fart what this a** says. I'm saturated to the gills with Santorum BS and I would guess many others are as well. It's like brainwashing. Just being honest. It's all just trash and bash and fear everywhere. Those of us who have been around for any length of time know what a bunch of distractionary paranoid psychopaths these people are. So what's the plan? The planet is in trouble and all people can do is bs about the same political small talk about small people that they always do with no action plan while OWS is marginalized and the administration there now gets away with perpetuating the same environmental destruction because partisan politics rules. Nothing has changed. Why do you think he is out here as the flavor of the week saying these things? Because he like the rest of them knows that in this game it gets a rise out of the people they want to distract from the issues of the Real America and the real disillusionment and anger out here. This year is supposed to be an awakening of consciousness? The year we change this government to take it back and kick ALL the scum out? I'll believe it when I see it.

    • JanforGore:

I see this year sort of like separating the chaff from the wheat.
I think Rick actually believes the BS he spews. It's not a game to him. I've known several people just like him and they are all proud conservatives. They see liberals as godless hedonists and themselves as defenders of the faith and country. We should not take Rick lightly.

    • This man certainly has sex on the brain. It is because he only gets to have sex to procreate? I honestly think he is in need of some serious readjustments.
