Is it lost on anyone that as we end two wars we find new reasons to start another? This has nothing to do with anything but our war machine bureaucracy keeping the bullets flying so they can keep their profits growing.

If we go to war with Iran, we also go to war with China and Russia. If that happens our children will call it WWIII.

China isn't ready yet and Russia is full of bluster. While I don't want war with Iran, I don't believe that China or Russia will get involved directly.

I agree, China and Russia is where their weapons come from, and a war would be a disaster for the world economy. I am about to the point of putting all these war hawks, including the lousiest pilot the navy ever had, Senator John McCain into front line service and see if they got the guts to pull a trigger, and I mean a gun in a trench, not a button in some bunker hiding in Arizona.

Truthitswhatsfordinner:
China and Russia JUST shot down a resolution in the UN security council over sanctions against Syria, which is the only official ally that Iran has. They want Iran to keep the stability of the area unsettled to keep America spending time and effort trying to stabilize the middle east. This allows them to keep spending their money in their weapons boutiques. This is a serious source of income for them, allowing them to upgrade their own military, and of course Iran doesn't get the really good stuff from them, so they have to spend their own money designing their own long range missiles.

Yes what you say is true. But the Russians and the Chinese are using the UN to avoid war because the Chinese are not ready for it and the Russians aren't up for the committing troops to the effort part.

The Chinese are not prepared for a land war in the Middle East. Their aircraft are not ready for an extended middle east conflict in which they don't have fly over rights. Their Navy personnel may be ready but their ships are inferior to ours. They know that, hence my comment that they are not ready. The PLA sees a military confrontation with the US not happening until the 2020s.

Just an FYI, the top ranked militaries in the world are 1- USA 2- Russia 3- China
Not to mention the fact that fighting Iran would be on almost the same level as us fighting Israel. They have a much more well developed military than most people seem to think - 3 months ago

Thank you for your service. My father is retired AF.
The difference between #1 and #2 is like the difference between the Giants and the Redskins or the Yankees and the Orioles. The difference between #2 and #3 is even greater.
Iran would be a difficult fight for the Navy, but our air superiority should suffice if the politicians stay out of the way.
Having said that, I don't want the US to be at war with Iran.

This latest Mideastern "escapade" will have dire consequences for all of us. We are already at the economic breaking point. The protests we saw in the streets last year will be nothing compared to what will happen if we get sucked into another conflict. It almost seems like this whole thing was in the cards because of the "draw-down" in our other two wars. The beast, (the M/I complex), must be satisfied, no matter what the consequences are for our ever-increasing poor population.

I responded to you but it didn't go through so let me try again. I totally agree with you. The people will not stand for anymore war. The MIC is evil and sucking the life blood out of this country. You bet this was all in the cards. We have been wanting to attack Iran for a long time. We don't need war. This country needs to take care of itself and it's about time that starts being the case. Bring all troops home and let's start rebuilding this country. There is plenty to be done.

Exactly, GOP want to talk about everything and anything but the economy, jobs and energy, they rather talk about women's reproductive body parts, sex, and Obama this Obama that, then discuss real issues.

Republicans: Iran a Threat
As the United Nations wrapped up its latest mission to Tehran and talks on the Middle Eastern country's nuclear programs faltered, the Republican presidential candidates tussled over who would do a better job than Barack Obama in reining in what they said is a rogue Iran. Newt Gingrich said that Iran’s leaders cannot be trusted, saying he would consider a preemptive strike against Iran if he thought Israel’s sovereignty and safety were threatened. Romney condemned Obama for not pursuing further sanctions against the Islamic Republic. Ron Paul called the hawks “risky and reckless,” and argued for talks, not sanctions and military action. Santorum said President Obama is “afraid to stand up to Iran.” - 3 months ago
