List of 388 Who Voted To End Your First Amendment Right To Assemble To Petition The Government

UPDATE: I was informed by a reader with a link to a subsequent vote that Ron Paul voted No on the following day. This would mean that only a total of 4 men in the House voted to keep the First Amendment alive.

Two Republicans voted No. One Greek Orthodox Palestinian from Michigan named Justin Amash voted No. He never went on any trips paid for by lobbyists. Paul Broun of Georgia came to the Congress late in life and worked at a real job as a doctor before politics.

No member of the Hispanic caucus and no other member of the Black caucus voted to support your 1st Amendment rights.

The only Democrat to vote No is a Muslim Keith Ellison.

The big trade union liberals did not vote No. I guess they are not worried about union workers getting arrested. No feminist voted No. No woman voted No. Not one of the anti-war activists voted No. Not one person who went on a junket paid for by the Aspen Institute voted No. Not one of the radicals who took trips to Cuba to show solidarity with Fidel voted No. Not one Catholic voted No. Not one Jew voted No.

I have decided to also list all trips to Israel so the voters know who is listens to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and not to us.

    • Does the fact that both houses of Congress, on both side of the aisle, and all the way up to the POTUS, are in near total agreement on this blatant violation to the most important amendment to our Constitution, not show how terrified our so called leaders are of the people that they rule over! This atrocious legislation against the Occupy movement, is also a crime against the American people.
How long must we wait for our government to start representing us?

    • I want to emphasize that democrats and republicans always find common ground when it comes to taking away civil liberties. I mean always, it never fails.

This gives great credibility to conspiracy theories regarding they are all ultimately on the same team and politics is just intramural sports for them.

You're exactly right... I always like to share this quote:

"Elections in America are a charade to give people the illusion of meaningless choice. The limits of debate in this country are established before the debate even begins, and everyone else is marginalized and made to seem as either a communist, a cook, some sort of disloyal person or a conspiracy theorist - Something that shouldn't even be entertained for a minute that powerful people might get together and have a plan. DOESN"T HAPPEN. You're a cook and a conspiracy buff." - George Carlin

Freedom is something you assume , then you wait for someone to try to take it away . The degree to which you resist is the degree to which you are free . " Utah Philips

    • Yeah......both parties are joining forces to quiet the people and protect the 1%. The republicans have always went after citizens after 9/11 who questioned the Iraq War, the patriot act, domestic spying, and the dispelling of intel leading up to 9/11. They questioned peoples patriotism, not supporting the troops and unleashed their media at Fox news and Clear Channel to attack. Go ask the Dixie Chicks about that.

They are the professional managers of the one percent. They are the traitors of humanity who by virtue of their political office get rich while the rest of us are rats in a cage.

The Republicans are actively against the people, while the Democrats quietly acquiesse.
This time the Dems have shown their true alligiance.
Watch what happens when this goes to the Scotus. Then we'll see that they are all on board together.

    • It's surprising to me that these rats are going after our 1st amendment before they go after the 2nd amendment.

You gotta ask why Congress is so afraid of people gathering in public?

The question might instead be "who is pressuring their pet congressmen to stifle free speech". Considering the major banks backed off on fee increases, sacrificing billions, due to OWS, I would think they're at the heart of this attack. Any time they need to announce a controversial new policy, the big banks only need to invite a politician who has secret service protection to their offices that day, and viola', no protesting allowed.

They're not just afraid, they're terrified. The reason is obvious. The elections are a sham, the Congress is bought and paid for, the courts are bought and paid for. The only thing they can;t control completely are the people. The only hope for the people is to organize and be disobedient. That means that the first amendment must be neutered. They could't just do away with it,( not yet, anyway ), so they simply castrated it, but left it on the books.

    • Why isn't this getting air play on current tv or on the other networks? No wonder Democrats didn't flock to OWS's side. I would be interested to see how the Senate would vote and have President Obama weigh in. It is strange just as "Occupy Spring" is getting geared up to start the onslaught during the 2012 election cycle, that this vote occured. I want labor unions to weigh in. The across the board silence on this makes me worried that it is one of the few times that there is bipartisan effort to stop a movement that speaks up for the people and wants banks, Wall Street, wealthy corporations, and wealthy indididuals held accountable. They want to protect the 99% from the 1% and sadly many politicians are bought and paid for by the 1% and I guess they got their marchingorders to stop them from peacefully assembling on federal, state, and city properties and houses of government. Why isn't Vice-president Gore using current tv and himself and shine a light on it? Not a peep on current tv......that is sad.

The media is owned by conservatives. We see what they want us to see. Unless Current sends its own staff to Washington, they depend on information shared by the Associated Press. What WE can do is instead of waiting for the news to be given to us, do a search on YouTube for the video coverage of citizen eyewitnesses. Then come back here and post it. The House and Senate also announce what is on their blotter for the day on their website. Same with the President. And you can email him from the site too. I've told him numerous times what a cunt he is for signing certain things, and I haven't been arrested yet.

Yeah....but even on this site I have been censored for telling a rightie he was "full of sh*t". He must of complained that I hurt his feelings. I didn't know Cenk Uygur was a republican until he seen the light. I was always wondering why I didn't like some of his positions or show choices. I don't trust a republican ever.......why is he so different.?

why isnt gore doing anything? because he and clinton were just cogs in the machine. why doesnt current cover it more? because current is a propaganda machine just like fox and cnn and all the rest.
