Why Republicans Aren’t Mentioning the Real Cause of Rising Prices at the Gas Pump

But the rise in gas prices has almost nothing to do with energy policy. It has everything to do with America’s continuing failure to adequately regulate Wall Street. But don’t hold your breath waiting for Republicans to tell the truth.

    • It is an easy fix to get the price of oil to stabilize long term. You end speculation on commodities by requiring anyone who buys a contract to take possession of said commodity before they can resell it. In other words, speculators would have to have facilities to put the oil in before they could resell that commodity. Owning the contract is not enough.

      Speculators would have to plow huge profits into buying and constructing facilities to store all that oil. Reduced profits is a speculators signal to get out of that game until the terms improve. It would our job to get the rules changed and make it hard if not impossible to get them changed back.

    • How about Ben Bernanke devauling the dollar with his "quantitive easing" (printing money in layman's terms)? That has even more to with it and neither side is talking about that.
