The parents of Trayvon Martin strongly condemned new reports that negatively reflect their son in an emotional press conference in Sanford, Florida Monday afternoon.
Both parents responded to two reports released Monday, where Martin’s shooter George Zimmerman claimed the teenager was the aggressor during the incident and an Associated Press report that found Martin was suspended from school for possessing marijuana.
“Even in death, Trayvon is gone and will not be returning to us,” said Tracy Martin, the slain teenager’s father. “Even in death, they are still disrespecting my son. And I feel that’s a shame.”
Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton added, “They’ve killed my son, and now they’re trying to kill his reputation.”

This statement fits the zimmtard better than it fit Trayvon -- he's been going to a jr college for 9 years to get a degree in law enforcement, and when you combine that with his arrest for domestic violence against his girlfriend I'd say you got the statement right, just wrong about the person. Also ... they tested Trayvon for drugs after the zimmtard murdered him and found NOTHING, but they didn't bother testing the zimmtard, and considering how slurred his speech was in those recordings I'd say the zimmtard was the one 'tokin' ...Pwr 2 Trayvon! What parent would not want justice for their child? Who would not want an investigation, a statement from the shooter, witnesses interviewed and closure as to what happened. I've seen so much character information flying on both sides. So the media now does the job of the police, interviewing witnesses, leaking information to the public and we're all the jury. Trayvon is silenced. He can never speak up or defend himself again. Ever. Zimmerman can and should. Why are we hearing from his friends and neighbors? They're not giving testimony. Or are they? So little empathy these days.
Here’s what everyone should know:
1. Prominent conservative websites published fake photos of Martin. Twitchy, a new website run by prominent conservative blogger Michelle Malkin, promoted a photo — purportedly from Martin’s Facebook page — that shows Martin in saggy pants and flipping the bird. The photo, which spread quickly on conservative websites and Twitter, is intended to paint Martin as a thug. As Twitchy later acknowledged, it is not a photo of Trayvon Martin. [Examiner]
2. The Sanford Police selectively leaked irrelevant, negative information about Martin. The authorities told the Orlando Sentinel this morning that Trayvon was suspended from school for ten days “after being found with an empty marijuana baggie.” There is no evidence that Martin was under the influence of drugs at the time of his death, nor would prior possession of marijuana be a reason for killing him. It’s unclear what the relevance of the leak was, other than to smear Martin. [Orlando Sentinel]
3. On Fox News, Geraldo said that Martin was dressed “like a wannabe gangster.” Bill O’Reilly agreed with him. The sole evidence is that Martin was wearing a hoodie. Geraldo added that “everyone that ever stuck up a convenience store” was wearing a hoodie. [ThinkProgress; The Blaze]
4. Without any evidence, prominent right-wing bloggers suggested that Martin was a drug dealer. Right-wing blogger Dan Riehl advances the theory, also advanced in a widely linked peice on a site called Wagist. There does not appear to be any evidence to support this claim whatsoever. [Riehl World View]
5. Without any evidence, a right-wing columnist alleged that Martin assaulted a bus driver. Unlike Zimmerman, Trayvon has no documented history of violence. This allegation continues to be advanced by a blogger on the Examiner even after the real reason was leaked to the police and confirmed by the family. [Miami Herald; Examiner]
6. Zimmerman’s friend says Martin was to blame because he was disrespectful to Zimmerman. Zimmerman’s friend Joe Oliver said that Martin would not have been shot to death if Trayvon had just said “I’m staying with my parents.” Of course, Zimmerman was not a police officer, and Trayvon had no duty to tell him who he was or where he was going. To Trayvon's parents....I am so very sorry. My prayers are with you and we the public haven't changed our minds about your son being just a little boy. We don't believe in the people who want to slander his name, don't your worry.
Guns need to be kept at home. I don't believe anyone should be carrying a gun. It always leads to trouble.
Fear killed a little boy with a gun.
Anyone who kills, needs to spend time in jail. I don't care who the lawyer is. Killing should be punished and George Zimmerman needs to be arrested. Case over. He could have broken his own nose and banged his head on the pavement to make it look like self defense. He is a big man.

If evidence comes about that proves wether or not this shooting was justified, it should be noted as such. There is at least 3 to 5 shootings a week in my city, whats the big deal? Lots of people die. Where was the public outrage when a group of black teenagers were playing the knock out game and killed an old man in my neighborhood. Why wasn't that a hate crime? The fact is Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson need racism. Without it they would be irellevent.

If this was not a racist killing then what was it? Maybe it was just a normal run of the mill stalking and killing of a child? Zimmerman had something screwed up in his mind. We can guess what he was thinking forever but he already killed someone he stalked and threatened. If someone lurched on me like zimmerman did to Travon I would be justified doing more than just punching that threat in the nose. Zimmerman was looking for trouble, asking for trouble, and then killed a kid on the street after freaking the kid out. I you don't see that as murder then I suggest you may have something screwed up in your mind aswell . There could be no justification for this murder. And the things Zimmerman said while on his hunt clearly show raceism was at least one motivation for his actions by his very own unsolicited statements on the phone to the police. Sorry for you if you think it's alright. IT IS NOT ALRIGHT TO HUNT AND KILL BLACK PEOPLE !!!!!!

"Over the last 48 hours, there has been a sustained effort to smear Trayvon Martin, the 17-year old African-American who was shot dead by George Zimmerman a month ago. Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, said, “They killed my son, now they’re trying to kill his reputation.”
Thus far these attacks have fallen into two categories: false and irrelevant. Much of this leaked information seems intended to play into stereotypes about young African-American males. Here’s what everyone should know:..."

The media is responding to THE PEOPLE who are outraged that the police completely screwed the pooch re Zimmerman. Without the media, THE PEOPLE do not have any means of holding bad law enforcement and coddled criminals like Zimmerman to account.
The racists and enablers of violent racists are grasping at straws here. It reminds me a bit of that hate email that went out after Katrina took out a lot of NOLA. That piece of garbage complained about poor black people getting attention in NOLA due to flood waters while white people in North Dakota didn't whine about all the snow they got in a blizzard. Of course, the snow in North Dakota didn't rise up in homes, forcing people to claw through their roofs or drown, but the racists just whined that the people with snow didn't get the same amount of media coverage as the thousands who were faced with drowning, the inability to get drinking water without being accused of 'looting' and other problems that arise when flood waters fill homes and neighborhoods.
It is pathetic to see all this RW outrage that a murdered black teen and a whole lotta police malfeasance is getting attention. Pathetic that racists are so insecure and self centered that they throw tantrums like three year olds.

I think the difference is it appears Trayvon died mostly because of the colour of his skin.
Every murder is tragic, but that is the reason this one is getting so much attention.
When people are killed for no reason other than the colour of their skin, that is especially chilling, especially in America and especially in the South, with the history there of lynchings and racially driven murders.
Here is another murder that happened in your neck of the woods, that did not get as much attention as Trayvon's:

This is all too familiar a response when the victim is already considered to be "guilty" by some preconcived notion.Trayvon Martin was "guilty" because he was a young black male. And you know all Black Men are "violent.". Shamia Alawadi was "guilty" because she was Iranian. And you know that all Iranian's and Muslims are all "terrorists." Matthew Shepard was "guilty" because he was Gay. And you know that all members of the LGBT community are "abnormal" and "God hates them." This is the sad litany of our country that is written in blood.
Until fear mongers like Michelle Malkin and Newt (and many others like them)stop planting the seeds of hate things will never change. Until men and women stop misusing religion to justify their hate (and I mean ALL religions) nothing will change. Until people stop devaluing education nothing will change. Until people stop walling themselves off in segeigated communities nothing will change. Mr. Martin, it is unfortunate that your son was senselessly murdered because of his color by a coward trying to hide behind a racist law, and that it happened in an election year. Those running on the Republican side are all too willing to either expose their innate racism or cynically pander to the racists that their base consists of by turning Treyvon into everything they have been taught to fear.

There are neighbors of mine, if they chose to take it upon themselves to walk around our little community at night, they would probably shoot little old ladies, dogs, deer and the occasional teen girl sneaking, or drunk trying to walk home. nothing is worth shooting another human being over....nothing....he was told not to follow Trayvon......Zimmerman was not under any oath of office to do so.....not trained to do so.....if someone follows me I may not confront but I have stood my ground called the police. I have gone up to a door to avoid confrontation. I have kept cool and taken pictures, written down tag numbers. i was taught don't carry a gun unless you intend to use it. don't pull it out unless you intend to kill. don't carry a gun. if we can't even go to the store without worrying a person will carry a gun in because they can?
