    • Seems to me that even after the chief had to step down, the police department continues to interfere in this case. Is that strange to anyone besides me ? Seems they may have something to hide.

    • What leak? That he's been suspended for tardiness, did some graffiti or had a bag with marijuana residue in it. That all reeks of desperation. Not one of those things is a violent act. They're not violent acts like resisting arrest or committing battery on a police officer. Or shooting a child dead. What they do prove is what we already know. He was a kid. All this leak shows is that the Sanford police are grasping at straws because they know they f@#$ed up and let a murderer walk. I got caught with some weed when I was a kid. Good thing it wasn't in Sanford Florida or an A-hole like Zimmerman would have had an excuse to shoot me.

Unbelievable! Sanford Cop's Son Arrested In 2007 Shooting (Justin Collison)
      VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. —
Eyewitness News found out that Justin Collison, the Sanford police officer's son who came under fire after a YouTube video showed him beating up a homeless man, was arrested in March of 2007 on assault and weapons charges in Volusia County.Collison faced two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery and shooting into a vehicle. Those charges were eventually dropped by the State Attorney's Office.

Deputies say Collison was at a party in the woods with roughly 50 people in Osteen when he pulled out a gun after an argument about music. They say he began firing his weapon into the air telling everyone to leave.

According to an arrest report, Collison then got into 23-year-old Brandon Hilliard's truck and began driving around the area. Collison and Hilliard came across a vehicle that had three male passengers inside and opened fire.

24-year-old Jon Regan, a passenger in the car, was struck by the gunfire. He was then driven to a Seminole County hospital. Regan survived the gunshot wound.

Based on court records, both Collison and Hilliard's felony charges were dropped. Eyewitness News is working to find out why both suspects were never prosecuted.

By noon Sunday, Collison still had not turned himself in to the Seminole County jail. A warrant for his arrest was issued last week after a YouTube video surfaced showing Collison knocking out a homeless man.

Charges against Collison were filed after WFTV broke the story. Collison is the son of a Sanford police lieutenant.

On Monday morning, members of the Seminole County Branch of the NAACP will meet with the acting Sanford Police Chief. The group plans to ask him why Collison was not arrested in early December, when the incident first happened.
