The Facebook page, called NY19 U.S. House of Representatives Discussion Center, encourages “civil multi-partisan discussion about issues impacting citizens of New York’s U.S. House District represented by Republican Congresswoman Nan Hayworth.” On it, a question about gas prices was also critical of Hayworth. Townsend responded to one commenter, Tom, by bringing up the “war on women” and suggested they “hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators.”

Taliban much there, Mr. Townsend? Acid thrown at women is a serious form of intimidation used by people who doe not want women to have education or voice. For a party complaining they get misrepresented at waging a war on women, they sure sound like they are waging war on women.

      The anger is mostly from the inability to find a cover that the American people will accept which covers their just plain hate of a man who OUR NATION CHOSE LEGALLY, but is a democrat , not so bad, BUT this democrat is giving way to much hope to way to many folks who just might start thinking.
      This is a definite ARGGH!!

      So.. toss acid in their faces, they'll shut up seems to be the logical step to them? (metaphorically or not)

      If this was done by the progressive folks in Washington, the GOP would be demanding hearings and grand jury trails for treason and for "conspiracy to interfere with the "right to the pursuit of happiness" by deliberate economic sabotage.

      a former sheriff I know was telling me about a really good/wise cop who mentored him when he was green in law enforcement. The older cop would ask questions, serve up scenarios and ask how to best handle, you know, stuff like that.

      One shift, the older cop asked the green cop: What is the most dangerous thing that can be visible in a household where domestic dispute call is made? The green cop (my friend the retired sheriff) went through his mental list of weapons and household items that could be used as weapons.

      'No, no, no, no, nope, nah-uh' responded the experienced officer. The most dangerous thing would be a large bible on a table. That indicates a male in the household probably feels he has a god-given-right to do anything to any member of the household and anyone who tried to stop him too.

      Over the years, my friend found that to be exactly correct. And my friend gave up going to church after some of those years of dealing with his church going neighbors in places other than church.

Unlike the (Occupiers) 1% ers, they aren't expecting government handouts, bitching about corporate profits , by texting on their $400 i-Phones ( which by the way, represents 300% profit by Apple and manufactured with Chinese slave labor overseas). The percentage of profit to Exxon on a gallon of gas is less than 10%, but it's fine that Coke can make an 800% profit on it's Dasani water products.       What you said about "biased news agencies" could be said about you. Fox comes to mind. I don't drink the "insani-tea-party" resurgence of McCarthyism. I am educated and I have lived more than 50 years on this planet. I was around and politically aware when Nixon and Reagan administrations set about their "plans"....to dismantle all the social safety nets. We have had 30 solid years of brainwashing with a public discourse that has been carefully crafted and executed that plays on the fears of the generation you speak of....my parent's generation. All the old farts need to get out of the way and allow the youth of the world to transform it. Fear is not a good ideological basis to spread faux democracy in the name of capitalism. Capitalism without socialism is called fascism.

      At the very least, one would think the Facebook censors would have been on it. They removed a pic that just alluded to nudity from George Takei's page. This call to attack US Senators that happen to be DEMs and female didn't seem to ruffle Facebook's feathers, it was still up as of late last night. Haven't checked it today.

      They only have wedge issues, dog whistles, and the hope that visceral hot-button issues will get enough people fired up (and blinded by their own anger) to get them elected.     • Never, ever forget, however, that these people actually believe that their words and actions are heroic and necessary to battle the evils of the "liberal elite." To think that they are just a bunch of idiots is to underestimate their dedication to their cause. Reagan and the two Bushes were, in my opinion, elected in large part because apathetic progressives simply did not believe that the American people would elect such obviously unintelligent and uninformed candidates. They will use ANY means to accomplish their goals -- and do so believing that those means have been used for the greater good (or the greater Glory of God). That does not mean that progressives should emulate their tactics, merely that progressives cannot afford to let their guards down - ever.

    • To say that Teabagger/Republicans are evil.is an understatement. They have lost what little ability they had to reason and use sound judgement. It's downright appalling for a spokesman to a Congresswoman to request that sitting Senators are assaulted in the face with acid.
      This is a threat and it should be handled as such. No sane individual would make such a request, and it's no laughing matter!
      Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, and spokesman Townsend need to find another line of employment! She should be recalled, and he should be forced to resign.

      "he" isn't the candidate. "He" is a candidate's spokesman, or propagandists. He was engaging in a discussion on Facebook. Not the best place to play fast and loose with language use for a 'professional' communicator.

      No, we need to do more than just not vote for him, or his candidate/employer. We need to howl about what he says on a very public forum. We cannot ignore this sort of crap coming from the campaigns of people. Ignoring and just not voting for the candidate does not send the message that words ARE important, that words have power, and that the GOP will be taken to task when they are recklessly inappropriate with what they say/write.
