The Mountain Meadows massacre was a series of attacks on the Baker–Fancher emigrant wagon train, at Mountain Meadows in southern Utah. The attacks culminated on September 11, 1857 with the mass slaughter of the emigrant party by the Iron County district of the Utah Territorial Militia and some local Native Americans.
The wagon train—composed almost entirely of families from Arkansas—was bound for California on a route that passed through the Utah Territory during a turbulent period later known as the Utah War. After arriving in Salt Lake City, the Baker–Fancher party made their way south, eventually stopping to rest at Mountain Meadows. While the emigrants were camped at the meadow, nearby militia leaders, including Isaac C. Haight and John D. Lee, made plans to attack the wagon train. The militia, officially called the Nauvoo Legion, was composed of Utah's Mormon settlers (members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or LDS Church). Intending to give the appearance of Native American aggression, their plan was to arm some Southern Paiute Native Americans and persuade them to join with a larger party of their own militiamen—disguised as Native Americans—in an attack.
During the initial assault on the wagon train, the emigrants fought back and a five-day siege ensued. Eventually fear spread among the militia's leaders that some emigrants had caught sight of white men, and had probably discovered who their attackers really were. This resulted in an order by militia commander William H. Dame for the emigrants' annihilation. Running low on water and provisions, the emigrants allowed a party of militiamen to enter their camp, who assured them of their safety and escorted them out of their hasty fortification. After walking a distance from the camp, the militiamen, with the help of auxiliary forces hiding nearby, attacked the emigrants. Intending to leave no witnesses of complicity by Mormons in the attacks, and to prevent reprisals that would further complicate the Utah War, the perpetrators killed all the adults and older children (totaling about 120 men, women, and children). Seventeen children, all younger than seven, were spared.
Following the massacre the perpetrators hastily buried the victims, leaving their bodies vulnerable to wild animals and the climate. Local families took in the surviving children, and many of the victims' possessions were auctioned off. Investigations, temporarily interrupted by the American Civil War, resulted in nine indictments during 1874. Of the men indicted, only John D. Lee was tried in a court of law. After two trials in the Utah Territory, Lee was convicted by a jury and executed. Today historians attribute the massacre to a combination of factors including both war hysteria and strident Mormon teachings. Scholars still debate whether senior Mormon leadership, including Brigham Young, directly instigated the massacre or if responsibility lies with the local leaders of southern Utah.

IS PLANET KOLOB REAL ?
Kolob is a star or planet described in Mormon scripture. Reference to Kolob is found in the Book of Abraham, a work published by Latter Day Saint (LDS) prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. According to this work, Kolob is the heavenly body nearest to the throne or residence of God. While the Book of Abraham refers to Kolob as a “star”,[1] it also refers to planets as stars,[2] and therefore, some LDS commentators consider Kolob to be a planet.[3] Other Latter Day Saints (commonly referred to as Mormons) consider Kolob to be a Christian metaphor.
Kolob has never been identified with any modern astronomical object and is not recognized as an ancient concept by modern Egyptology. Kolob is rarely discussed in modern LDS religious contexts, but it is periodically a topic of discussion in criticism of Mormonism. The idea also appears within LDS culture, and there is a LDS hymn about it. Kolob is also the inspiration for the planet Kobol within the Battlestar Galactica universe, created by Glen A. Larson, a Mormon.[4][5]

I am a Lifelong Liberal Mormon Kennedy Democrat; and I am in nowise well-pleased with the example that Mitt Romney is giiving the world a perspective of how I was raised to believe in my faith Mormon. Now; I am no great example either! I felt like an alien in my own religion, due to my point of view politically or philisophically. In fact I fell away and had to study the scriptures and Documentary History Of The Church to get "my own" testimony of the Gospel. I thank God for that. It has held me through all the vitriole and false-doctrinaire I hear and see from the majority of vocal Mormons. Not the General Authorities; no, but those who presume to think they know more or better than them. You see we have a lot of "self-appointed" general authorities in our church. They fart and fume on nd on about any and every topic in a vain attempt to persuade others to accept their point of view. It has been my sad experience to see a large majority of common members to swallow these positions, due to ignorance or the feeling of humility or self-doubt. "Blessed are the meek". Well; I get riled whenever I hear Glenn Beck or Orrin Hatch. Both are clowns; "strutting and fretting their hour upon the stage; and God willing they will be heard of no more"!! Please understand there are a small percentage of Mormons whom study, pray and try to obey the commandments of God without standing upon their "Rameumpton" every Sunday to show how righteous they are. No; the true Mormon is kind, humble and striving to look out for their fellow man; as they learn about "What Christ would have them do", in our church and scriptures. This cartoon is "reprehensive" to me and taken way out of context. I'd recommend anyone who believes this presentation is even close to what we believe; should take the time to study and read all the scriptures I had to do, in order overcome false doctrines espoused by vain and foolish men throughout any church's history. I personally feel that Barack Obama is a "God-send" to the American people in the hour of our need! I challenge any honest Mormon to compare him with the teachings of Christ or Joseph Smith Jr and ask themselves wherein does he fail? Then; throw cold water on their face and wake up, and see how Mitt Romney is so "clueless" about how normal "just-getting-by people" have to live. The man is so vain and proud of being a rich, shrewd businessman that he cannot, or doesn't even try to, see the other side of the coin. I feel sorry for such a man. Either I was raised to believe in a different Jesus Christ than he did, or money and pride has cankered his vey soul.I wonder why the General Authorities haven't "hauled him in" and tried to enlighten him, as he is now the most public example of Mormonism in today's world. To him and Glenn Beck I challenge both to fast and pray at least twenty-four hours before they go out pontificating their diatribe! And I ask those who view this cartoon to "judge not" what enemies espouse, rather seek your own untainted objective understanding of things you find disturbing. I had to about the Kennedys; and it made me grow up in realizing they were "human" just like me! So is Mitt, Glenn and everyone else. you see we all have our natural desire to believe in a hero; but we have to stop putting people up on pedistals; because they will always fall off and disappoint. Yet; it doesn't mean they are bad or false, it means they are real. Kennedys were real, Obama is real, and Joseph Smith, Jr was real! And lastly; I would just like to emphasize what I learned most significantly from my journey back through the wilderness: "Judge not, lest so shall ye be judged."

If your lucky a might read you a little from the little book of crazy Mormon conspiracy theories. It's a ripper! Makes anyone ever labelled a conspiracy theory whacko look rather tame in comparison. It's even strange that even Mormons would believe it. Basically, according to the book, anyone who is not a Mormon seems to be part of some global conspiracy to enslave the world. Even I may be secretly conspiring to enslave myself it would appear.

The scariest part of this is that it is just the tip of the iceberg. If you think about how Mormons view those outside of their coven, the rest of us are all merely fodder for them to achieve their exalted status, disposable human beings. Sounds a lot like Mitt Romney's business plan at Bain, doesn't it?
We can laugh about it, but these people are heavily invested in maintaining records of whose in and whose out. They have the most extensive records on familial lineage known...the federal government has even gone to them for data.

I've come to a conclusion today - people are just nuts!
If I was the sort who wanted to believe in imaginary beings, how could I not question this sort of nonsense?
Almost every religion has there silly shit but this one takes the cake!

Thanks, cherry. Here's the latest. Bill Clinton came here today to rally the troops and support Tom Barrett. The early voting that has taken place here has been excellent! Great turnout. As you may know, Tom is being out spent 25 to 1 by Walker/Koch brothers/out of state money. But, Tom and the Dems have their ground game working for them. The boots are on the ground and the people here are ready to vote! We are expecting large voter turnout! The only reason Tom would lose would be because of the big money/Reps rigging the election. This will be a people powered election!
