Ann and Mitt deducted $77K from their 2010 taxes, for horse expenses

And the horse is also jointly owned by two other women, so I wonder if THEY got that sort of deduction for that horse's upkeep.

$77,000 is a whole lot more than the median income of working people in America. No wonder Romney wants to raise taxes on the least of us. He hasn't got a clue what people are living on in this country. Either that or Ann wants another horse and Mitt needs more tax cuts to pay for it.

Always wondered how people afford to keep horses. Now I find out the most expensive ones are deductible. WTF?

When I get around to getting another dog, I'm getting a TALL one. Naming it Secraseabiscuitbaro.

We can't spend $$ on fixing infrastructure, which would create jobs for workers who pay taxes, but we can give tax breaks for fancy horses so rich women without jobs can have something to do?

NO!

    • $77,000?

It costs about $100 to $125 to feed a llama each month, plus its shots, which are another $100 to $200. That's about $1,700 a year. A horse ain't gonna be 45 times more expensive to feed than a llama.

It is a "Dressage" horse. For a definition of "dressage" see below (the saddles alone run into the thousands of dollars):

Dressage (/ˈdrɛsɑːʒ/ or /drɨˈsɑːʒ/; a French term, most commonly translated to mean "training") is a competitive equestrian sport, defined by the International Equestrian Federation as "the highest expression of horse training."[1] Competitions are held at all levels from amateur to the World Equestrian Games. Its fundamental purpose is to develop, through standardized progressive training methods, a horse's natural athletic ability and willingness to perform, thereby maximizing its potential as a riding horse. At the peak of a dressage horse's gymnastic development, the horse will respond smoothly to a skilled rider's minimal aids. The rider will be relaxed and appear effort-free while the horse willingly performs the requested movement. Dressage is occasionally referred to as "Horse Ballet". Although the discipline has ancient roots in Europe, dressage was first recognized as an important equestrian pursuit during the Renaissance. The great European riding masters of that period developed a sequential training system that has changed little since then. Classical dressage is still considered the basis of modern dressage.
In modern dressage competition, successful training at the various levels is demonstrated through the performance of "tests", prescribed series of movements ridden within a standard arena. Judges evaluate each movement on the basis of an objective standard appropriate to the level of the test and assign each movement a score from zero to ten – zero being "not executed" and 10 being "excellent". A score of 9 is very good and is a high mark, while a competitor achieving all 6s (or 60% overall) should be considering moving on to the next level.

I hear ya re depressing reality of this subject. But my twisted little mind will generally find some way to laugh. And it is laughter that spreads discussion of just about any issue.

      Tutus for everyone!

The gay pride parade is coming to town soon and I've never owned a tutu. I've been told by faux newz that it's required attire. I'll wear it with my assless chaps for that sophisticated look. Just make sure it's in shocking pink. I wouldn't want one the wouldn't be noticed in a sea of tutus. I'm confused however, do I wear it over the chaps and risk covering my butt, or wear it like a sports bra for the shock value to tutu wearing purists? Of course I could really rebel and wear it with a three piece buisness suit my mom bought back in '78 for job interviews. (It still fits) Oh, I almost forgot; Mittens loves kittens with grey poupon.

    • OK, it's time for me to step away from the computer, sit out on the back patio and meditate, then just go to sleep.

Because if I don't, I'm liable to start screaming and breaking stuff.

      Breathe, Vic....breathe.

      Stepping away now....

Yeah, I am there too, but outside is a BBQ, and street dance with country music and guys in big hats celebrating the romance of the cowboy and horse. Now, there's a relationship that needs to be looked into.

Maybe I could put Mozart on my sound system and drown out the tear in beer tunes.

Just keep reminding people: Romney plans to raise taxes on the working poor and middle class while cutting his own tax obligations more than bush did. And it was those bush tax cuts that run up such a huge deficit.

The GOP can either raise taxes on the rich, or stop whining about the deficit. They can't do both. Don't let them do both.
