I know it was good intentions but she should have arrested Rove, these Republicans are worthless scum buckets!Nancy Pelosi Slams Contempt Vote: 'I Could Have Arrested Karl Rove ... But We Didn't'
by Jennifer Bendery
WASHINGTON -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday that the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is playing politics with its vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress, an action she said that even she didn't seek as House Speaker when she thought someone was legitimately deserving of it.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday that Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is undermining the process of holding someone in contempt of Congress.
"I could have arrested Karl Rove on any given day," Pelosi said to laughter, during a sit-down with reporters. "I'm not kidding. There's a prison here in the Capitol ... If we had spotted him in the Capitol, we could have arrested him."
Rove was senior advisor and deputy chief of staff to former President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2007.
Asked on what grounds she could have arrested Rove, Pelosi replied, "Oh, any number. But there were some specific ones for his being in contempt of Congress. But we didn't."
The House committee on Wednesday voted to hold the U.S. attorney general in contempt of Congress for not handing over certain documents sought by the committee chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.). The contempt vote comes after months of complaining by Issa that Holder is refusing to comply with subpoenas for materials relating to the Justice Department's botched Operation Fast and Furious. Holder, who has already given the committee 7,600 documents, maintains he can only provide so many materials without breaching confidentiality rules.
Pelosi sounded off on the ordeal ahead of the committee vote.
"This is just strictly political," she said. "It's just the irresponsibility of the Republicans. We want jobs. Why are they spending this time doing this?"
The Democratic leader also took a shot at Issa for abusing the process of holding an official in contempt.
"'Loose cannon' would sort of be like such a compliment to Darrell Issa. 'Loose cannon' would be a moderate phrase. This is an explosive device," she said. "It doesn't serve our country, and it undermines the true purpose of contempt of Congress."
"That's why I didn't arrest Karl Rove when I had the chance."

Nancy, Nancy - please stop showing how utterly ineffectual the Democrats can be - they should have rammed legislation through when they had the chance, just like the Republicans did (remember Bush v. Gore - a complete unconstitutional national disgrace when no Democrats stood up to refuse to honor it because of its unconstitutionality, or the ridiculous (and again, unconstitutional) legislation formed exclusively for Terry Schiavo?). They learned NOTHING about their opposition from Bush v. Gore.
I am thoroughly exhausted from watching the Democrats play touch in a tackle football game. They just haven't woken up that politics with the Republicans is a form of war where anything - lying, cheating, stealing- is part of their game plan. And it works!.
Rove belongs in jail. Why was he excused from prosecution? Justice cries for criminal prosecution of known criminals - they shouldn't get a free pass for political reasons. (Scooter Libby comes to mind, and so do lots of others)
I hoped Nancy had bigger ovaries than this. But no; just roll over and play dead.
Touchdown!

Well Pelosi, why the fuck *didn't* you arrest Karl Rove?
She sits around screaming about how it's not fair, when the only thing happening here is the same old Democratic incompetence.
Did they honestly expect Republicans to be civil and honest? They're at war with this country, they say it all the time.
This bi-partisan bullshit is a one way street. And either Democrats are fucking retarded and don't see that or they're just colluding with Republicans and pretending to fight back.
I'm so tired of these Republican political games. Why doesn't anyone call them out on their bullshit already? Start busting heads Pelosi. If you can prosecute people, fucking do it. Forget about civility, Republicans abandoned that in the 90's when they tried to impeach a sitting President on personal bullshit.

Of course it is "political." There's a war on, and it's political. It's a war against the American people, by Banksters and Wall Streeters. Pelosi's statements are such a glib admission of weakness and servility it's no wonder what happened in the 2010 midterms might well happen again to a greater degree this year. Pelosi's generalship in the House, along with Reid's generalship in the Senate, are studies in incompetence and weakness, well worthy of comparison with the execution of the liberal agenda in Weimar Germany. And, under the transition government of Romney, a Robot Capitalist Zombie by any sane definition, we may well suffer the same ultimate fate.
Just because Holder's a "Democrat" doesn't mean he's not a lickspittle to the wealthy elite who are behind the throne in any event, here and now, today. Justice should have arrested Rove along with the other Republican criminals from Bush II, but he's listening to what his boss tells him to do. Two sides of the same coin.

Oh so am supposed to be happy about that....she didn't arrest him for things a lot worse than this BS....she just confirmed the fact that they're job is not to fight for us but to roll over and keep getting paid.
For example, if you get beat up and one guy is kicking you and another one is just watching instead of helping....aren't you as mad at both of them? But aren't you more disappointed in the one who always does nothing then acts like your friend AFTER you get your butt kicked. Where the heck is that "friend" when the other guy is repeatedly kicking you butt every single day? The bully rethugs ruthlessly kick our nerdy gayish middle class asses for 30 years, and after every ass kicking her come the Democrats saying, "Oh are you ok, that guy was just mean. Is there anything I can do to help? Well, I got your back next time, trust me." And every single day you see this SOB watching you get your butt kicked, sometimes you think you see a smile, but after he comes up and says the same thing again, "....next time I got your back" - 11 months ago

Darrell Issa, the man leading this contempt-for-blacks-in-power witch hunt has been arrested at least 3 times over the years for things like possessing an illegal weapon and stealing cars. He is a very shady character with an agenda very much like Mitch Mconnell's stated main goal: make Obama a one term president. Screw any effort at creating jobs.

Nancy is right but the Democrats are spineless pussies afraid to stand up to republicans. That is why so many dems hate their own party. Their lack of gravitas gave us the War in Iraq, the torture of terrorists, card blanche for Bush, no prosecutions for illegal activities, the Bush tax cuts, the very arms scandal that was started during Bush's term and continued by Obama's, Abu Garib, wmd, Scooter Libby/Dick Cheney leakgate, economic collapse, no single-payer/public option healthcare bill, the fake debt ceiling hostage crisis, countless filibusters, and the republicans refusal to pass one jobs bill. The democrats have had ample opportunity to stand up to the right and she should of ordered him arrested when he refused to testify but she is a big part of the problem. She and Harry led a caucus with a majority and were thwarted time and time again by obstructionist tactics and it continues to this day but now on a grand scale for any party. It seems funny that the same house that Nancy presided over with a majority could not get anything done yet the tan-man himself along with his faithful...lol sidekick Lil Whiner have managed to pass bill after bill without so much as a whisper out of the dems. There are very few real democrats left that aren't bought and paid for. They don't protect those like Kucinich & Grayson who call them out.

Actually the democratic congress from 2008 to 2010 could have brought up both George W. Bush and Cheney for selective culling of intelligence to qualify their invasion og Iraq. There were no WMD's on which the pre emptive war based. That is a crime, once again ball less democrats didn't have what it took. Called courage!!! And now both cannot travel anywhere in the world they may like because there are international warrants out for the war crimes commited by both Bush & Cheney. And here we are Darrel Issa trying to find Holder in contempt. Truely a hypocrite, truely a partisian politician, and another millionaire worth over 375 million really caring for the poor, dispossessed, homeless and hungry. How many four letter words can one come up with to describe such arrogance

No Nancy, you should have arrested Rove when you had the chance. How many decades will it take, before you understand how the GOP plays politics. Dirty, filthy, rotten and underhanded. They have no emotions and don't believe in fairness. The GOP cares more about power then "serving our country". They are skilled at undermining and obstructing. Time to develop some new strategies. Thank you Incredulous, they have capitalized on this and have used it time and time again to box him and his administration in a corner. I don't say play dirty along with them, but I know that they're smart enough to develop a strategy that works better then this. The GOP has used fear, anger, divisiveness since 2008 and they haven't stopped. The public doesn't seem to pay attention to the fact that they've only concentrated on undermining this Presidency and in the interim, keeping the economy weak, people out of work and focusing on getting their country back. Again, it's way past time to wake up out of this 'we can all get along'.
The GOP was never interested in working with this President. Only in getting their way. They have never shown themselves as being fiscally responsible and now the economy is all they pretend to be concerned about. Garbage. These facts need to pointed out and the public needs to be reminded how devastated this economy was. They will focus on anything and everything but the economy. What part of "GOP leader's top goal: Make Obama 1-term president" don't we understand?

News flash here folks, pretty much every one of the boobs in public office could be put in the slammer for some reason. It is now the lefts turn, once again, to face the scrutiny of the opposing party. This whole admin/term will not go into the history books the way the left would like.

The current administration has never gone on the national tour explaining the nuts and bolts of the bill, instead they leave it up to the left leaning pundits to push the talking points.

Had Rove been guilty of accessory after the fact in hiding information relating to a homicide then he should have been jailed. The fact is (besides Pelosi being a absolute nut case) we have a criminal administration who ignores the will of the people, the Constitution, the limitations on the powers of the presidency, the division of powers within the government, criminal law, campaign promises. He wants to be Congress and the Supreme Court, cares nothing for anything beyond his agenda. I don't know what he is hiding by doing this "executive privilege" thing. I suspect it is something that links him to F&F. If not then trot it out and embarrass the Republicans for making a mountain out of nothing and say, "I told you so". For 18 months the White HOuse and HOlder have been stonewalling this investigation. In the interim the family of Brian Terry have been left twisting in the wind. Does Obama care? Evidently not as evidenced by his actions. I have my own ideas what Terrys family should do but I will not utter them here. Holder is a lying scumbag. Obama is covering up Holders scumbagism which makes him as guilty as Holder. What a criminal government we have.
One thing is for sure, Obama, with his actions over the past several weeks has made a mockery of the rule of law rendering it nonexistent. With his actions there is nothing in any law anywhere to prevent or prohibit any crime. He is a joke. - 11 months ago

I would not have taken the deal either. It was b.s. Also, if the documents already released were a complete answer why exert executive privilege? HOlder and Obama are liars. This IS stonewalling.

It looks more and more like HOlder is guilty of perjury, accessory in the death of Brian Terry and stonewalling Congress. His worthless boss is aiding and abetting this. The "politics" you speak of are at the White House and DOJ level. I can't help it if the Democrats in Congress are so lacking in character and understanding of the rule of law that they go along with this. Any this is the behavior you want for four more years? Pitiful.

YOur request is as nonsensical as Holders assertions and Obamas Executive privilege. The three of you are birds of a feather. I apologize for the insult but satisfying YOUR condition, even one name, would be to trivialize both the deaths of the soldiers and Brian Terry. You should be ashamed. Oh, I understand that AFG has passed the 2,000 dead mark on June 13. Nothing by ABC, NBC, CBS and the rest of the liberal mouthpieces. Can you name those 2,000? Rhetorical question. Stop trying to cloud the issue.

Now is the time for the Democratic Party to show some backbone, and voice their disapproval for this manufactured charge. They should be outraged at the extent that the Republicans will go to destroy President Obama and his Administration.
The Republican Party certainly isn't the party of integrity or decency. They are corrupting the system for political gain, and they should be charged for making false claims. It's against the law on a personal level, it should be in this case. - 11 months ago
