Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) wants to spy on all Australians. Under the "super warrant" submitted by the current Attorney-General, ASIO asked the Federal government to increase surveillance warrant durations from three to six months and reduce oversight of ASIO activities. ASIO wants access to all Australian telecommunications under the "super warrant" so it does not have to fill in the paper work required of many individual warrants.Internet Service Providers would be required to store all Australian's data for 2 years and not agreeing to decrypt encrypted files would become a criminal offence. Mobile phone data, text messages, emails, chat logs from all the various communications platforms and services, that could amount to incredibly massive and detailed information stored on every single person in Australia.
The Australian media in general is so far not taking the story very seriously and it is receiving very little coverage. Just recently a prominent Australian journalist commented that the Australian media didn't fear anything when reporting on important issues. I couldn't help feel a little sceptical about that particular comment.

Haven't heard much about this from the activists folks down under. This must be very early in the formulation process. They get pretty vocal down there so expect all hell to break loose.
