When I went to school in the eighties noone had autism, noone. it's not a matter of earlier diagnosis, there is a near epidemic of autism, duh... And noone was allergic to peanuts either.

Ugh, while your last comment is obviously true, it doesn't mean that autism is on the rise "exclusively" because of better detection methods. The brain's saturation with foreign chemicals at all phases of development, which it was never exposed to during the last 10,000 years until now, can only be ignored as a disrupting force by those who insist on ignoring despite all and any.

I can go along with contaminants in our food supply...additives we cannot even pronounce the names to, GM foodstuffs, and the air we now breathe.
However, diagnosis for autism has improved considerably. In addition, the criteria for diagnosing autism has changed, revealing more children than before.
This does not negate what you say, it only adds to the complications and confusion of the diagnosis, especially for parents.
Having said that, when people look to find someone or something to blame, it is easier to pick on the one item, than the complicated and misunderstood by most, food supply.

Check out the link to the umbilical cord study I gave to Incredulous. It shows that children have more raw mercury in their systems on the day that they are born than they get from any vaccination. All of the umbilical cords tested had over 200 industrial chemicals, pesticides and toxins in their blood.

Thiomersal (mercury based preservative) has been used in vaccines for 80 years. How many of the children you were vaccinated with succumbed to autism as a result of being inoculated? Medical procedures are safer now than they were even 20 years ago. Why would thiomersal suddenly start causing complications now?

In fact, the Japanese withdrew use of the M.M.R. vaccine in 2005, and the cases of autism continued to rise unabated.

That is the reply Dagum left for me.

What about the children that got their jabs in the 30s and the 40s and the 50s and the 60s and the 70s and the 80s. I, and every other child that was born in the 50s like me got inoculated and not one person I know suffered from autism. What we did not have for that 60 years was an environment as polluted as it is now. MMR vaccine has been used for 80m years, but the rise in autism has manifested itself in only the last 20 years. The Japanese stopped using MMR vaccines in 2005 and it had no effect on the rate of autism in their country whatsoever. Vaccines do not cause autism. People who believe the vaccine autism connection cause pathogen outbreaks and have blood on their hands.

The reason for these pathogen outbreaks and the death of a child in Alberta from pertussis is a direct result of coming onto contact with a child carrying the disease. The medical community in Alberta said as much. A child who probably has science denying parents that refused to have that child vaccinated. Child killers in my opinion.

People stop getting their children vaccinated, a outbreak of pertussis occurs and that's because if the environment, but you have a hard time believing the environment can cause congenital problems like autism?

We certainly can't say the outbreak of a previously controlled disease is because people refused to get their children vaccinated for it now can we? That would mean not getting your children vaccinated is a bad idea. That would mean scientists know more about science than parents do. Can't have that.

The CDC doesn't conduct real studies, they don't have the budget for it. If you read the "study" referred to at the CDC link you provided you'll see it's not a study at all, it's a survey. They surveyed a group of children with autism years AFTER they were vaccinated and compared them with children of the same age who were vaccinated but didn't have autism. Based on just that, they somehow concluded there is no link between autism and vaccines. It's totally junk. It probably could have been conducted through the mail.

There was no direct testing on live subjects.

As another aside, if you are trying to get me to disagree with you that industrial chemicals and environmental toxins have negative effects on babies' immune systems; I won't. I agree with you on that one. But let's not knowingly and willingly overload a infant's immune system by jabbing like a pin cushion with 30+ vaccines (current schedule) within the first few months of his or her life. That's insane.

The Canadian vaccine schedule has only 13 inoculations, yet the rise in autism is the same as it is everywhere else. Their have been over 20 independent academic studies to see if there is a connection between vaccines and autism and every one of them has proven negative. This pertussis outbreak is not caused by the disaster in Japan, it will no doubt be shown to have started from an unvaccinated child.

You might find this interesting. An outbreak of measles in Minnesota caused twenty one people to become ill and 85% of those affected could trace their illness back to a single unvaccinated child. Only 15% of those afflicted caught the illness off the other 85%. One unvaccinated child caused everyone else to get sick and you can bet that child's parents thought they were doing the right thing by not getting their child inoculated.

The idea that vaccines cause autism is very frustrating for the medical community because a great deal of time and effort that is going into trying to convince the public of the fact that science can find no link. Which it has not. Time that could be better spent trying to find out what is actually causing the rise in autism. I would think the chemical soup in the womb babies are being subjected to is the most likely culprit.

I agree. That is my point. People are blaming vaccinations for autism so they do not get their children vaccinated. Outbreaks of pertussis, measles, diphtheria and every other previously controlled disease is inevitable when herd immunity drops below 96%. The Fukushima disaster will have consequences. Of that there is no doubt. It is far more likely though that diseases that can be controlled by vaccination are not controlled when vaccinations are not received. That's just logic.
