    • I admire the woman's "moxie" but what she did was exceedingly dangerous. What the article fails to mention is that one of the robbers pistol-whipped her in response. At her age that could have killed her as effectively as a bullet.

      I set out to make the article an oblique satire on the gun debate by reducing it to absurdity. I purposely left out the reference to the real dangers of her actions. In fact, I'm amazed that she, and others in the store, lived through it. My initial instinct was to reference her injuries, but couldn't think of a reasonable way to do so satirically.

      I'll add an "addendum" at the end of it to raise the very real issue you do. Satire can be tricky . . . Thanks!
