When I was in school a classmate had gone to the infirmary & got a positive pregnancy test. She was called into the dean's office three months later & dismissed. They said they got info from the infirmary & she didn't look pregnant, so she must have had an abortion. This was way after Roe v. Wade, but THEY said it was immoral in their book & grounds for dismissal. So this doesn't surprise me, sadly.

Unless all the girls are named Mary this is definitely sex discrimination.

As Leen posted below, the ACLU Tuesday forced the school to drop this policy....

So let's take money out of the Federal education system using vouchers, and stop sex education. That way people will be able to enroll their perfect children in better schools.
Then we will have underfunded public schools which will be full of pregnant, autistic, poor children. People forget what the U stands for in USA.

And I'm sure they aren't making the fathers leave school. It's hard enough for teen mothers to get a good education without their schools actively working against them.

then of course require all that government money to help with their father less baby problem and welfare mothers, while they also claim to hate big government, while demanding abstinance only education which assures the cycle of ignorance continues.

...always amuses me how the right-wingers will scream bloody-murder, fight tooth-and-nail to get those babies born and claim to be all "family first" "family-centric" yet the moment those babies -are- born they turn their backs and scream NO "welfare", no "child care", no "assistance" - that's all "big government" "commie/pinko?socialism! We won't "subsidize" any of that!!! Such hypocritical scum.... Such disgraceful excuses for human beings.

That rough beast, discrimination, still finds a happy home in the south thanks to those that cling to the mistakes of the past.

Conservatives have been for a long time now, trying to reverse the succession of victories for not just Civil Rights in this country, but Human Rights.......This is just another attempt by the Southern Culture "to rise again.."....Every person in this great land should be writing to their Congressmen and women about this............Why would you want to sentence a young girl to a life of struggle, along with her child, because of the lack of education.......Cons have always wanted a return to a serfdom......With the attacks on womens rights, civil rights, voting rights, labor rights and now education rights, that is the destructive path cons have set us on......A new Serfdom......

What a violation! But, I was glad to read this:
"The American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana brought attention to the policy on Monday, calling on the school to drop the rule or face legal action. By Tuesday evening, state officials agreed that the policy violated federal law."
Sanity prevailed and good for the ACLU!

There is nothing private about violating the young girls rights. I guess conservatives will validate it by using some bible text or go after all young girls being permiscuous and need to be checked. If that is the case then let's have the boys Take a lie detector test on how much they masturbate as it is a sin as well and have them be required to unannounced visit by school officials as they take his bed sheets for testing. If the conservative can attack public schools and cut teachers salaries while they have a vested interest in school vouchers then we have a right to demand they follow the law and not abuse their function as a private school. Being a private school doesn't give them license to violate the law or a childs privacy.

Don't surprise me. There was a young girl on (JS) Jerry Springer begging a nasty "boyfriend"
to stay with her. I thought what on earth her parents were doing? I know, I know the old Romeo & Juliet were 14 year olds. Don't u need more than basic reading skills these days. It's a sign of times. - 9 months ago
