The ACLU is vowing to fight the decision by appealing to the state’s Supreme Court:It's going to be battle after battle between now and election day in this war against suppressing the vote, but one that must be fought. Otherwise, the GOP a-holes are gonna run slip-shod over the electorate, and we’ve already endured eight years of that under George W. Bush.

I would think that Prtesident Obama would have AG Holder devote resouces to stop this across the republican controlled states that have initiated voter suppression laws and not wait until the last minute to address them. It is clear that republican judges are going to ignore the law and let this happen as they are of retribution. Isn't it funny how the conservatives see the judges in their pockets as not being activists. If these challenges make it to the SCOTUS then Justice Scalia has already spoken on how he would vote. This election could be stolen and the courts all ready have given the greenlight. Our democracy as we know it may end this fall and democrats need to be ready to fight for it or see it wiped away once a Romney administration iis in power. It scares the hell out of me. Democrats needs to get involved and not sit back and be complacent. The conservatives will do or say anything to win and we need to get shoulder deep in the mud with them and recite the Ryan Budget and what it means to all citizens. Romney is already losing ground in Florida and other retirement states. The choice of Ryan to please the far-right will be their undoing. Media outlets need to be reminded to focus on this by democrats daily as the right will try and distract voters with lies to confuse them. Democrats will be mistaken if they try to play nice. They need to take it to the republicans as often as they can and keep hammering the truth and it will sink in with voters but the occasional shot to the midsection to double them over would be welcomed.

Judge upholds Pennsylvania voter ID LawIn a blow to voting rights advocates, Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson upheld the state’s restrictive voter ID law, which could disenfranchise as many as 750,000 citizens in the state.
Though voter ID proponents were unable to cite even a single case of voter impersonation that would justify the ID requirement, Simpson “didn’t rule on the full merits of the case,” instead limiting his scope to whether it was a proper exercise of the legislature’s authority, according to the AP. They continue:
The original rationale in Pennsylvania’s Republican-controlled Legislature for the law — to prevent election fraud — played little role in the case before Simpson since the state’s lawyers acknowledged that they are “not aware of any incidents of in person voter fraud.” Instead, they insisted that lawmakers properly exercised their latitude to make election-related laws when they chose to require voters to show widely available forms of photo identification.
Voting rights advocates plan to appeal the case to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, which will likely issue its own ruling before the November election. There is currently an even 3-3 split between Democrats and Republicans on the Court; the 7th Justice, Republican Joan Orie Melvin, is under suspension because of an unrelated corruption scandal.
