    • I guess it depends on how you read Revelations. What is the point of the 7 letters beyond the immediate point of addressing the 7 churches. Why would we need to read about that nearly 2,0000 later? Obviously they represent something more.....

There is a sequence. It says explicitly no none knows the the exact date. And there is always the possibility that the collapse of the United States doesn't mean the end of the world.

Sometimes I wonder if it's only in our own arrogance do we think the fall of the republic of the United States is somehow meaningful in the cosmic scope of things.

    • Frankly any power great enough to tear down this shithole of a system has my support. This needs to end and humanity as a whole seems powerless to stop or change it. So is it really that unusual that people hope for the return of one of the few who managed to make a difference even a little in the past? I for one am not ashamed to admit I hope for it daily.

    • What are you smoking? That's practically all they preach.

40% of Christians think the rapture will happen in their lifetime.

What's sad about it is that even non-Christians have their brand of eschatology internalized.

There will be no "end of the world." If we fuck thing up on this planet, we have to *live* with it.

Maybe if people understood that, they wouldn't sit around wishing for destruction.

But 'the end of time' is not the same as 'the end of the world.'
The End of Time involves the end of clocks.
      After all, time is money.
I am smoking some Northern Lights right now.
The Christian 'end' is too vague. Plagues, drought, famine, earthquakes.
The Maya spelled it out with a simple calender. At the end of every 5.200 some years the old way dies and a new way is born.
This is the fifth time this has happened in the past 25,000+ years of the Mesoamerican way of keeping time.
Earth will not end anytime soon.
But we humans are in the midst of a very rude awakening.
I personally look forward to the End of Time (and the resumption of Real Time).
      Dreamtime, not ruled by clocks.
      Amen.

I went consistently to church for 3 to 4 years to 3 different churches with others on the side. None that i went to even brought up end times. Well the seventh day adventists do but i think they go too far. And when they do bring up end times its the false pre tribulation rapture doctrine. Nothing in the bible says anything about that kind of rapture christians are going to have to go through the tribulation and get persecuted and killed i guess thats why they dont talk about it much is because people like to focus on happy loving jesus not the one thats gonna send locusts to eat up your crops but id still like more focus on this subject. theyre not preparing christians well enough

You are correct, however, the word was made to free slaves not keep them shackled. But as always Satan only has the word of God to twist and so he uses it to enslave that which God would set free. And one last thing the Apocalypse is the lifting of the vale, it's the equivalent to the savior returning to burn down the slave masters house and set all the slaves free. This is a day I long for with all my heart.

      ...before I'd be a slave
I'd be buried in my grave
And go home to my Lord and be free.

      -Oh Freedom-

    • Because the whole narrative is hocus pocus. There is no end times coming. Only a self fulfilling prophecy of human destruction of the planet.

    • I think it's because they lost a lot of cred with Harold Camping and they don't want to get burned again so soon. They'll probably wait a while before preaching it again.

"Camping predicted that Jesus Christ would return to Earth on May 21, 2011, whereupon the righteous would fly up to heaven, and that there would follow five months of fire, brimstone and plagues on Earth, with millions of people dying each day, culminating on October 21, 2011, with the final destruction of the world.

In March 2012, he stated that his attempt to predict a date was "sinful", and that his critics had been right in pointing to the words of Matthew 24:36: "of that day and hour knoweth no man" that he no longer believed that anybody could know the time of the Rapture or the end of the world"

    • It's just become so obvious that no one feels the need to beat a dead horse.
It's like we've all somehow accepted doom from all those Hollywood movies.
To me the end of time simply means the time where clocks and money no longer rule our hectic world.

    • Because Freddie Mercury and Brian May cornered that market a long time ago.

Oh oh people of the earth
      Listen to the warning
      The Seer he said
Beware the storm that gathers here
      Listen to the wise man

      I dreamed I saw on a moonlit'stair
Spreading his hands on the multitude there
A man who cried for a love gone stale
And ice cold hearts of charity bare
I watched as fear took the old men's gaze
Hopes of the young in troubled graves
I see no day, I heard him say
So grey is the face of every mortal

Oh oh people of the earth
      Listen to the warning
      The prophet he said
For soon the cold of night will fall
      Summoned by your own hand

Oh oh children of the land
      Quicken to the new life
      Take my hand
Ooh, fly and find the new green bough
      Return like the white dove

He told of death as a bone white haze
Taking the lost and the unloved babe
Late too late all the wretches run
These kings of beasts now counting their days
From mother's love is the son estranged
Married his own his precious gain
The earth will shake in two will break
And death all around will be your dow'ry

Oh oh people of the earth
Listen to the warning the seer he said
For those who hear and mark my words
      Listen to the good plan

Oh oh oh oh - and two by two my human zoo
      They'll be
      Running for to come
      Running for to come
      Out of the rain

      Oh, flee for your life
Who heed me not, let all your treasure make you
      Oh, fear for your life
Deceive you not the fires of hell will take you
      Should death await you

Oh, oh, people can you hear me (oh, oh, people can you hear me)
(Oh, oh, people can you hear me)

      And now I know..........

      Death all around........

      Listen to the wise man.......

      Listen to the mad man......

God give you the grace to purge this place
And peace all around may be your fortune

Oh oh children of the land
Love is still the answer, take my hand
The vision fades, a voice I hear
      "Listen to the madman!"

Ooh, but still I fear and still I dare not
      Laugh at the madman
