I WOULD NOT VOTE FOR A MAN WITH THESE MORALS - Romney was never disciplined, but the recipient of the trim, John Lauber, was later expelled. Back in 1965 he was a shy teen who was teased for "presumed homosexuality." Things got worse when he returned from break with bleached-blond hair that draped over one eye—a look that stood out at Cranbrook, which was largely favored by briefcase-carrying Republicans. According to what Horowitz pieced together:

In a TV interview this month, Mitt Romney's wife Ann insisted, "There's a wild and crazy man inside of [Mitt Romney] just waiting to come out." How wild and crazy is he? Well, when he was a teenager at boarding school in 1965, he was so crazed by a fellow student's slightly long hair that he organized a wild mob that held the boy down while Romney cut off the offensive locks, as his victim wept. Which we guess isn't that wild and crazy when you compare it to that one time a young George W. Bush branded a dude.

"It happened very quickly, and to this day it troubles me,” said [Thomas] Buford, the school’s wrestling champion, who said he joined Romney in restraining Lauber. Buford subsequently apologized to Lauber, who was “terrified,” he said. “What a senseless, stupid, idiotic thing to do.” ... "It was a hack job,” recalled Phillip Maxwell, a childhood friend of Romney who was in the dorm room when the incident occurred. “It was vicious."

    • Romney...has angered animal rights activists for strapping his dog to the roof of his car on a family trip from Boston to Ontario, Canada.

      During the 12-hour trip, Seamus (the Romney's Irish Setter) lost control of his bowels in fear, to which Romney's response was to stop at a gas station to give the poor dog an "emotion-free" hosing-down before returning to the highway for hours more driving with Seamus still frightened, lonely, wind-buffeted, uncomfortable, and now dripping wet.

      The ABC News strory also quotes Ingrid Newkirk, president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals as saying "It is commonsense that any dog who's under extreme stress might show that stress by losing control of his bowels: that alone should have been sufficient indication that the dog was, basically, being tortured."

      Newkirk went on to say Romney's treatment of Seamus was "a lesson in cruelty that was ... wrong for [his children] to witness."

    • Mitt Romney may be the ultimate candidate, he may not be the ultimate politician. While the Governor of Massachusetts, Mr. Romney increased fees on gasoline, gun licenses, marriage licenses, and driver’s licenses which had a disproportionate impact on people with lower incomes. Low incomes may be something Mr. Romney is still learning more about.
