The state should not approve homosexuality, said Reagan

If the "state" does not approve of it, who will?

Society has always regarded marital love as a sacred expression of the bond between a man and a woman. It is the means by which families are created and society itself is extended into the future. In the Judeo-Christian tradition it is the means by which husband and wife participate with God in the creation of a new human life. It is for these reasons, among others, that our society has always sought to protect this unique relationship. In part the erosion of these values has given way to a celebration of forms of expression most reject. We will resist the efforts of some to obtain government endorsement of homosexuality.—Ronald Reagan, July 12, 1984.

    • Mr. Reagan was an actor so he knew many homosexuals and he was vocally against homosexuals. As we have found many of the people like him have turned out engaging in the very activity he denounces. I wonder how many Ronnie saw up close?

      First Raygun is putting forth the idea that everyone buys into the Judeo-Xtian tradition and that is simply not true. In this country, we are free to embrace any belief, religion, or cult; or perhaps reject the whole lot of them.

      Secondly, the idea that sex is solely for the creation of life is foolish, and that the husband an wife “participate” with the god is even more absurd. In this venue the couple would have to say, “Hey god we're going to fuck, are you ready to make this a threesome?” The very idea that the god or goddess would deem sex solely for procreation is silly. Why then, did she make it enjoyable?

      The Xtian patriarchal god is usually depicted with the personality of a dried up old stick, finding joy in nothing. The same personality type as the re_Pigs it would seem. As for Raygun, the worms can eat what is left of his diseased brain, if they can stomach it.

      Greetings Wolfess - If they had their way, we would be arrested for celebrating Samhain and Beltane. BTW the group I gather with is a mix of old and young, gay and straight Wiccans, Druids, and Native Americans, both male and female and yet we are all one. I just hope we can do Samhain this year as last year the fire pits were under a foot of snow and the path to the trilathon was blocked by fallen trees. Snow at the end of Octobre! Not good.

This, as he spoke to an Omnibus Bill he introduced to Parliament to change the Criminal Code updating abortion, homosexuality and divorce law. And this was 17 years before Reagan's ignorant statement.
