Washington Diamonds Corp., a producer of Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) diamonds, announced today its first commercially available superior lab-grown diamonds.Washington Diamonds creates high quality, authentic genuine diamonds for a lower cost than mined diamonds. The diamonds are certified by the American Gemological Society (AGS) and require only a fraction of the time to grow into a gem which would otherwise take nature millions of years.
“The technology to grow a diamond by CVD has been around for 30 years, but only recently has it become possible to provide CVD diamonds without compromising cut or quality and at a price that is less than a mined diamond,” said Clive Hill, Founder and President, Washington Diamonds. “Not only are these beautiful genuine diamonds of verifiable authenticity, they provide exceptional value. Our grown diamonds typically cost 20 to 30 percent less than a mined stone of the same size, cut and quality.”
Washington Diamonds’ genuine stones are the best value available. They can be more than two carats after cutting, shaping and polishing, but most stones are approximately one carat in size based on customer demand.
A CVD diamond is produced by creating the conditions necessary for carbon atoms in a vacuum chamber (?) to settle on a substrate in crystalline form. Due to the advancement in CVD diamond science, the optical quality of the lab-grown diamond, mechanical properties and structural stability have reached a level such that they are on par, and even exceed, the same qualities in a natural mined diamond.
Lab-grown diamonds are not only more cost effective, but are also conflict free and completely green because they bypass the human and environmental abuse of mined diamonds. Science can achieve the same valuable results without the ethical issues. When you buy a Washington Diamond, you can be certain that it is untainted by blood diamonds.
