Veteran newsman Ted Koppel appeared as a special contributor to NBC’s “Rock Center” on Thursday to launch an apparent war on what he believes is “partisan ranting” masquerading as news coverage at Fox News, MSNBC and other partisan media. But, first he sat down for an interview Bill O’Reilly and told him to his face that he’s hurting the country. His conclusions: Fox News and MSNBC seem to only market “fear”; the partisan divide has actually become impossible to bridge; and it’s now up to the American people to reject it or suffer the consequences.

Ted should have asked him why Faux News cannot broadcast in Canada. I would love to see how Bill - O would try to spin that.

Odd, isn't it how the Reich, oops, I mean Rich, hire people to be their bullies for them. And, the bullies are being "Noble."

Ted was -ENTIRELY- too kind and reasonable, he was just too even handed. Koppels last words were the truest and most important, the idea that News is a "product" is entirely destructive to a Democracy. It was thought of as a calling, an important one to the basic workings of Democracy. True JOURNALISM is absolutely necessary to a healthy Democracy, and the propaganda that Faux noise "produces" is most venomous poison to true democracy!

I agree completely. This is why I was very happy to see Ted Koppel come to the forefront and challenge O'Reilly on Fox News. I watched Night Line for decades when he hosted the show. I feel like he shouldn't be in the same room with trash like O'Reilly, unless he is doing some serious investigative reporting of the ill effects of media organizations like Fox.

What a load of crock. Ted Koppel should have put Bill O'Reilly in his place. He knows damn well that there is a big difference between MSNBC, and Fox. Fox is no more than the Republican propaganda network, who employ Republicans who are working to defeat President Obama, and Democratic candidates.
He has been in the news business for decades and he knows that Fox is a cesspool. They make up bull crap and broadcast it as news. Rupert Murdoch's tabloid journalism masquerading as news is destroying the American media.
Murdoch's global organization is a criminal enterprise that is barred from Canada. Several of his employees were found guilty of criminal activities in the United Kingdom.
Real Journalist like Ted Koppel should expose Fox for what/who they really are. The news should be fact based, no more, no less! - 8 months ago

Yes he kinda/sorta did, however, I think that he could have done a much better job at exposing Fox lies and propaganda. He didn't touch on their obvious unbalanced coverage of what they distribute as news.
I was happy to see him make an attempt to call Fox out on their crappy broadcasting, however, I feel that he was a little too timid with his critiques!
I wanted him to show the clear connection to Fox and the Republican Party. - 8 months ago

The very suggestion that Faux always tells the truth is galling. I would have like to have seen him run down the list of corporate whores that comprise the Faux talking heads and point out their lies. He was far too kind.

He was in truth far too kind, too reasonable, sanity reason, these things never work when dealing with right-wing propaganda pushers.

It says a lot about a country that strongly supports a network built on hate, fear, and lies. This is what we have become and it ain't pretty.
