A Stew Debunking of Paul Ryan's big Libya Lie during Thursday's VP debate.
---------
In reality, Congressional and Tea Party Republicans actually voted several times to cut funding to foreign embassy security. House Budget Committee Chairman, Paul Ryan, put budget caps on all discretionary spending related to embassy security and personnel.

    • Funny and sad to read the right wing nuts on this thread trying to spin this tragedy in some failed attempt to make Obama look bad. But it does serve as an instructive example as to the nature of Obama Derangement Syndrome.

    • Ryan's understanding of foreign policy is just about as good as his understanding of basic math. Which is nonexistant. He should leave grown up subjects to grown people, and go back to the kiddie table at Chuck E. Cheese.

    • A few things that seem curious to me:

The attack on the consulate came just after Obama told Bibi no meeting right now.

From all reports, the general population in area of consulate were pretty pro-American.

So after this attack, Obama has a problem that the GOP floundering presidential ticket is trying to make issue of, in fact Romney jumped the gun on the whole thing and stepped into some do-do doing so.

There is some big campaign money from pro-hawk billionaire.

The attack has been described as not part of a mob and very precise.

Just things that make me go Hmmmmmm.

Ryan making an issue over something he had a hand in setting stage for through those GOP cries about having to do something about deficits (that Bush ran up so high) now that there is a DEM in the WH is the one part that is no surprise at all.

Ryan is a political opportunist, not a concerned representative of the people. He sniffs the air then follows the smell of meat, making sure he raises his voice to seem like he is leading whatever movement he is pandering to.

I am glad Biden busted his chops over and over.

    • You know, I just cant stand it when Liberals keep trying to blame Republicans wether they are President or not!
Hey IDIOTS, If your Leader MESSES UP STOP BLAMING THE REPUBLICAN CONGRESS!!!

Here is the facts. And nothing else need be said about this....

it doenst matter that they cut spending a bit on that. Ya know why? Because cutting spending has not one thing to do with the reality that when one of your people says "ITS GETTING BAD HERE AND WE NEED MORE SECURITY HERE" You didnt hear them say...." Nah, we cant give you more security because the Republicans cut it in the budget!"

You heard them deny it because they didnt believe it was needed.

It was 9/11, And Obama clearly didnt think Extra Security was needed because he feel
his SAVIOR status should have chilled the worlds hatred of the USA!!

And as far as anyones comments that it is not Obama who makes that decision... BULL!!! He is the COMMANDER IN CHIEF!!!

I am so sick and tired of you nonsense!!

      Take responsiblity for your failures!!

Here are some facts for your pablum.
      -----
In reality, Congressional and Tea Party Republicans actually voted several times to cut funding to foreign embassy security. Representative Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) said he “absolutely” voted to cut spending for embassy security. House Budget Committee Chairman, Paul Ryan, put budget caps on all discretionary spending. Those caps are particularly rough on the State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee with responsibility for embassy security. In 2009, the House led GOP cut $1.2 billion from State operations, including funds for 300 more diplomatic security positions. Ryan’s budget also cuts nearly 20 percent in non-defense discretionary spending including state Department spending. The House has proposed cutting $216 million more of the president’s budget on the State Department’s Worldwide Security Protection Program for 2013. In the last two years congress has cut $296 million from embassy security and construction with even more cuts in other State Department security accounts.

I just can't stand to hear the Teabaggers spout the same idiotic nonsense in unison! They act as if they have been programmed to tell the same lies, using the same stupid language, in reference to the same topic.
The Republican Congress voted to cut the Security Budget, and the rest is history.
Paul Ryan was too busy lying, or too dumb too realize that he/Republican Congress was responsible for the lapse in security.

Budget cuts have "NOTHING" to do with this tragedy! The fact is if you can ONLY afford 26 Marine Guards who in their right mind would send 25 of them to Paris and one of them to Libya? I mean if this has anything to do with the budget cuts it has to do with the non JUDICIOUS use of the limited funds you have.

I hear about Terrorist attacks all the time against American facilities in the Middle East and Northern Africa, but cant recall the last one I heard about in Paris France. This is a CLASSIC case of trying to pass the buck when you mess up pure and simple. The Republicans are guilty of LOTS of things, but this aint one of them.

It's very hard to tell what really happened there.
Perhaps the US administration felt it had provided enough security already.
After all, according to a September 21 report in the Wall Street Journal, Libyan government forces did attempt to coordinate a response to the assault on the US consulate and the annexe used by the CIA, but were hindered by the refusal of American officials to cooperate in providing the necessary information.
Then, when the Americans were eventually evacuated and brought to Benghazi airport, Libyan officials were apparently astonished at the unexpectedly high number of US personnel there and had to bring in a second plane to fly them all out.

    • For fiscal 2013, the GOP-controlled House proposed spending $1.934 billion for the State Department’s Worldwide Security Protection program — well below the $2.15 billion requested by the Obama administration. House Republicans cut the administration’s request for embassy security funding by $128 million in fiscal 2011 and $331 million in fiscal 2012. (Negotiations with the Democrat-controlled Senate restored about $88 million of the administration’s request.) Last year, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned that Republicans’ proposed cuts to her department would be “detrimental to America’s national security” — a charge Republicans rejected.

[GOP vice presidential nominee Paul] Ryan, [Rep. Darrell] Issa and other House Republicans voted for an amendment in 2009 to cut $1.2 billion from State operations, including funds for 300 more diplomatic security positions. Under Ryan’s budget, non-defense discretionary spending, which includes State Department funding, would be slashed nearly 20 percent in 2014, which would translate to more than $400 million in additional cuts to embassy security.

We have a ton of soilders, marines, and navy seals sitting around doing jack shit right now. If you had put a platoon of soldiers (40) they could have easily pushed back this type of attack. Hell I love being deployed could have sent me over there.

Truth ? Don't pretend to know anything about anything, everything . is an opinion. I must remind myself of that on a daily basis. My opinion is that the Rethuglicans orchestrated the attack on the embassy to Shish-Ke-Bob the election. Israel's MOSSAD and the CIA are the executive branch of the NWO shadow government. Our congress has been infiltrated and subverted by foreign governments and these reptillian aliens seek to destroy American independence and national sovereignty, so as to render our citizens subservient slaves of the money changers like Bank of America, Chase, Citibank, USB Goldman sachs, morgan stanley. They control government and the military, The citizen Republicans and the Tea baggers are their Rodeo Clowns in the peanut gallery of hoplite opinion polls, cheering on the puppet show The Right Wingers profit more from corporate crime , monopolistic enterprise and from War, death and depression, than from any beneficial activity or business. Just my opinion, Squidward.,

Only by continual oversight can the democrat in office be prevented from hardening into a despot: only by unintermitted Agitation can a people be kept sufficiently awake to principle not to let liberty be smothered in material prosperity."

    • Let us assume that the Embassy Security funding was reduced. That still does not explain why the Ambassador to France is guarded by a detachment of Marines and the Ambassador to Libya was guarded by a lone Navy Seal and a Computer Geek.

I do not claim to be a Security Expert, but even I would know the guy in Libya would be far more apt to need the detachment of Marines then the one in Paris France. Biden NEVER satisfactorily addressed why they did not send more security when it was REQUESTED.

I still can not get over the fact that these poor people were able to hold out for "5" hours and these incompitent fools still could not save them.

All the foriegn afairs are run by CIA. They are at core of command extreme scandolous strategic killers. They could have as much security anywhere as they might wish with no accounting for cost. They also control the flow of money and arms to alquada ( one of the groups they created for stratigic purposes) . The whole attack stinks of typical CIA treason and election influenceing. Standard October surprise . Presidents are just pinballs in the outfit's machine. Elections work as grand distractions and money sponges intended to leave us all broke, tired, and angry blameing each other . The elected are not in position to fight the machine they are thrust into. Rush Limbough said this is not a democracy, and that is true due to corruption over time. Rush said this is a representative republic, But that is only true for the few people ( ruthless rich ) who can manouvre and buy some representation. I'm tired of hearing people speak of the embassy attack as if it were something caused by our president or a misstake in oversight by his people. The thing is obvious. It is in your face. Call it what it is. This is meant to be addresed to a general audience. I should not have put it as a reply to you Moliblum . No offense intended.

It is the State Department "NOT" the CIA tasked with securing our Diplomats.. Let us for the moment entertain your conspiracy fantasy. This still would not explain why these poor people were not saved even though there was 5 hours to do so. We have military forces all over Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. The Obama administration DROPPED the ball and are trying to place the blame everywhere, but where it belongs.

That is today's GOP. They create a mess then cash in on blaming some DEM for it. Love that Biden and others are holding them accountable and nailing them on their anti-America activities.
