Apparently, both John Schnatter and Denny's have backed down considerably from their controversial comments about having to raise prices and/or lay off staff over Obamacare.Schnatter now says he has no plans to cut jobs over Obamacare.
Meanwhile, Denny's franchisers not named John Metz have said the 5 percent Obamacare surcharge is idiotic.
Sorry, conservatives, no more Papa John's pizzas for you. Schnatter has backed down. You'll have to go back to Chick-Fil-A.

Yea! I can't wait till we bring all these greedy corporations to their knees. I think millionaires should have to forfeit ALL their wealth and have their companies nationalized. Who do they think they are? Do they think they are better?
We all know if we give all the money to the government, everyone will be taken care of, so what's the problem?

Time will tell. If companies are going to do this they need to not talk about it and just do it.

I don't care if they do "do it", they've lost my business until I see them join and contribute to the "Patriotic Millionaires" who are in favor of having their taxes increased. They are also in favor of adding an additional tax increase to those making over $10 million a year. See, not all millionaires are greedy. We just don't know about them until they create their own site and let us know. Reporters and not telling us what millionaires are filling out that little box at IRS.gov that asks if they want to donate more for the benefit of the country. Look them up sometime.

I remember when people got health ins. w/their jobs, good health insurance, without it costing more than $20 per paycheck, about 30 years ago. Even service jobs, like fast food and retail, offered affordable health ins. to their employees. Health ins. stopped being offered more and more frequently, and the premiums became higher and higher...My husband's job offered health ins. in April 2012, with a premium of $1,100/month and a $6,000 deductible, for family, and his employer did not offer to help with the premium at all; we had to opt out of having health insurance because it would have been more than 30% of my husband's income. Hello Obamacare!

justagirl: I remember this too. And then all those HMO's started appearing, and healthcare benefits from employers started to dwindle. Company's like Traveler's and Aetna (which used to be great and cheap) started to sell HMO's and it just all started going to hell. In the old days we paid a 20% co-pay, there was an "Up-To" amount which was usually pretty low), and insurance paid the rest. But healthcare costs back then used to be cheaper. Doctors made house calls. Hospitals were for really, really, sick people. Well, now we're in the age of greed. I don't think any of us who remember those days will ever be able to adjust. Thank you, Obamacare!

The most ironic thing about both of these guys is this. Denny's has a much lower employee payroll cost than almost any other business you can name. Waitresses get paid less than minimum wage, because somehow the industry managed to get the customers to pay their labor costs through tipping. Just like the lottery proceeds were supposed to augment school budgets, but instead replaced them, tips were supposed to be a reward for good service, not a substitute for a paycheck from the restaurant. So, for Papa Johns, who also pays people sub standard wages and gets it's labor paid for by tips, Restaurants are probably the worst businesses in the country to cry foul when it comes to health insurance for their employees.
Perhaps it is time we looked into revamping our entire corporate structure in this country, and put corporations hack where they belong. In the failed experiment category. If a corporation was a person, it would be a sociopathic person.

You're so right gray. Especially with regard to tipping. Canadians come down here for the winter and never tip because in "their country" wait-staff is paid a decent wage. And these old folks down here in Florida who drive up to bars and restaurants in their brand new Cadillacs and BMWs think nothing of tipping $1 on a $20 bill. The big corps are not only sociopathic, they are schidzofrenic (which they had spell check here). They think one bump up in their need to pay to the social good is a communist plot out to get them.

Thanks Harouk for this post. But as far as I'm concerned they still won't get my business. Maybe they will when I see their names among the 220 Millionaires who are in favor of a tax hike to themselves. Check out this cite: http://patrioticmillionaires.net. I sent them an email in support of their efforts, but I also asked for their business affiliations so I could support them in their businesses. I'm not rich by any means, but I'd rather pay $5 for a coffee cup for example at a store owned by one of them, than $1 for one at Walmart's.
I've already seen the comments from the GOP from them: If they are so interested in giving more to the IRS, they can simply donate it at IRS.ORG.
Yeah, they could, and they probably have. But then who would know they DO exist and how could they make you non-joining, greedy bastards look like the a'holes you are?

If this is the private home of John Schnatter, I've seen shopping malls that are smaller. I mean, how much money will ever be enough for these greedy bipeds?
And yet this pathetic excuse for a human being has the audacity to complain about affording Obamacare for his hourly employees! They should forcibly drag his sorry ass from this Antoinette monstrosity to be publicly flogged.

This just proves that their so-called outrage was over greed. If they weren't still going to make a profit, (after agreeing to comply with the mandates of Obamacare), they would not have stopped their phoney campaign.

As a New York City resident, I must say that I do not understand why anyone here would even consider ordering from Papa John's so boycotting him for being an selfish shit was not really a problem for me.
Please support your local pizza places because anyone this stupid and inconsiderate of his fellow humans should not be trusted to prepare food.
