Scheduling Disaster: A Path to Bankruptcy?

What happened to the evening schedule on the West Coast as of 3 December 2012? It was bad enough when we had to choose between Current and MSNBC/Maddow at 6 PM, but taking away the choice entirely and eliminating the ability to catch up during the remainder of the evening is not going to be helpful to Current and its anchors. And, clearly, this is not a viewer-friendly move.

Do you really think anyone wants to start watching their evening news broadcasts at 2 PM? At least with the old schedule one could see the second broadcast of a particular show at a reasonable time. NOTE: Coming back to Current at 11 PM through 3 AM is also not going to be a viable option for many people. If you were to fill the afternoon with some sort of general news show, while retaining the previous evening schedule, that might actually work, but the War Room and related programming is clearly not that sort of show.

So, the final question seems to be: is Current intentionally destroying its own ratings as a prelude to going off the air? If the answer is "no," then something needs to be done quickly to avoid doing just that.
