GOP Changes Law for Netflix, Keeps Big Brother

letsliveinpeace
"Congress just passed a bill that lets you share your Michael Bay movie marathon with everyone on Facebook. What you still can't do: send an email without worrying that Big Brother is watching.

The "Netflix amendment" to the Video Privacy Protection Act is headed to President Barack Obama's desk for his signature after it was unanimously passed by the Senate on Dec. 20. The bill was crafted to let the movie rental giant allow users to share their online viewing habits on social networking sites like Facebook. Privacy protections imposed after Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork had his video rental history exposed in 1987 had prohibited users from doing that."*

Congress passed "the Netflix amendment" to the Video Privacy Protection Act, allowing the company to share people's viewing history. When the Democratic-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee wanted to attach a plan to stop warrant-less email peeping...Republicans were less enthusiastic. Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

    • Currently both parties are undermining the freedom and constitutional rights granted by the United States Constitution. Its time to take our country back from these corrupt, greedy, robber barons. They are all nothing but a den of thieves!!!! These officials need to be held accountable, their bribe money seized, citizenship stripped, and our country restored to one that is of the people and for the people. No more party affiliation crap. They are all bought and paid for by the same Wealthy elitists and Corporations pulling the strings. When WE THE PEOPLE finally WAKE-UP only then can their be true change! Go to the following link and pass it everywhere!!!! http://wh.gov/Um94

    • Netflix as it is is teetering and may go over the edge. This BS should do them in, imagine a young teacher who likes to watch slasher flicks, all it takes is an overly zealous soccer mom to paint him as a potential Ted Bundy or an environmentalist who happens to like golf---you can bet some granola munching "My cause" lunatic would make him seem as the captain of the Exxon Valdez.

    • They can pass shit like this that benefits corporations, but can't do a thing to help the people, especially the most vulnerable. This got passed in a heartbeat, but they can't do anything about the fiscal cliff or the farm bill.

Isn’t that some shit; they can pass bills to see into your bedroom!! But can't do anything about the fiscal cliff, I am embarrassed by this failure of our country and the republican leaders and how we must look around the world. Shame on them!
